Biographical Information

How long have you lived in Hamilton County?

What is the greatest challenge you anticipate facing if you are elected?

What characteristics do you possess and/or what life experiences have you had that make you believe that you are the most qualified person for this office?

We moved here the weekend of July 4th 2014.
There are several challenges, but I don't think any are insurmountable. 1) I am not well known in the county and will have to increase my network. 2) I am new to local politics, which might have a learning curve. 3) Currently there aren't any women on the Hamilton County Commission (thankfully several highly qualified women are running), however, if only one or two are elected it could be sidelined when discussing topics that directly effect the health and safety of women of this county.
I listen to understand, to empathize, and to focus on solutions. I am someone who can take information from a variety of sources, look at it from different perspectives, and come up with answers. That means I also am someone who is unafraid to admit to mistakes, is open to learning, and focuses on being a teammate. I have also worked in a variety of programs in this county that give me a unique perspective on many of the problems we have, including with the crisis team, in community mental health, and with addicts. As a counselor I look at problems from a systemic perspective, thinking about underlying factors that affect people and how they can be changed. I have worked on non-profit boards, and on committees before and have an understanding of when to stand up for what is needed, and when to compromise.
