Voters of each township elect three members to the township board for 4-year terms. The township board has the same responsibilities within the township as those exercised by the county council. Those duties include adopting the annual township budget, fixing the tax rate for various funds, fixing the salaries of elected and appointed officers and employees of the township, excluding constables, township assessors and employees of county assessors. The board must keep a record of its proceedings.

During November 2025’s federal government shutdown I was able to use my own professional experiences of working with new mothers and children at WIC and personal experiences as a survivor of domestic violence to support others struggling to locate or purchase food or pay bills for their families. Locating services I had previously mapped out for myself and connecting others to those services became a personal priority and this position would extend those skills to supporting people of Adam’s Township.
I unfortunately believe that SB1 will greatly cut Adam’s township budget year by year and according to the township association of Indiana- SB1 will cut at least $28,000 from the budget within the next three years. These funds will need recovered by negotiations with the Allen County Council to help recover the needed funding for fire departments and emergency services.

I am driven by a commitment to community connection and governance transparency. With over twenty years of experience in leadership, including a PhD in Global Leadership and a career as a Doctor of Business Administration faculty member, I offer a unique blend of academic rigor and practical business management. My background as a retail store manager overseeing multi-million-dollar budgets and hundreds of employees has prepared me to ensure fiscal accountability while navigating the complex needs of diverse stakeholders. I am running to bridge the gap between local government and the residents of Southeast Fort Wayne, ensuring that every tax dollar is used effectively to foster inclusive community development and reliable public service.
While the bill provides relief to taxpayers by capping levy increases, it naturally constrains revenue for township services. My background in strategic planning and grant writing will be essential in identifying alternative funding sources to supplement property tax revenue. I will apply my experience in continuous improvement to audit township operations, ensuring we maintain high-quality services, without exceeding legislative caps. Accountability is critical under SB1; I am committed to governance transparency, so residents see exactly how restricted funds are prioritized to meet our township's most pressing needs.
