Knox County is the community that raised me, and I believe who serves locally truly matters. Local government shapes our daily lives—the roads we drive, the schools our children attend, the people who answer 911, and the parks where families gather. These decisions are made by neighbors serving in local office.
A mentor once told me that if you have the ability to serve and give back but choose not to, it’s a disservice. I’ve carried that lesson with me. Investing in the community that shaped me is how I can best give back.
Knox County is growing rapidly, and the decisions we make today will shape it for decades. I’m running to help manage that growth responsibly while protecting what makes our community special.
My background aligns closely with the core responsibilities of county government. I earned my accounting degree from the UT Knoxville and worked in public accounting, giving me a strong understanding of budgets and financial management. Since the county commission oversees a budget of more than a billion dollars, that experience is important. I also have experience in real estate through my business, my service on the Knox County Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Knoxville Public Building Authority, which has given me real world insight into land use and infrastructure decisions. I’ve also held leadership roles with organizations like the UT Young Alumni Council, Family Promise of Knoxville, and Nucleus Knoxville.
First and foremost, commissioners must listen to and represent their constituents. Our job is to stay engaged with residents and ensure their concerns are heard. Second is responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. Knox County operates on a budget of more than a billion dollars, and commissioners must ensure those resources are used efficiently and responsibly. Third is thoughtful planning for growth through land use and zoning decisions. Commissioners help shape how Knox County develops and must balance growth with infrastructure, schools, and public safety. Ultimately, the role is about making thoughtful decisions that protect the long-term health and character of our community.
I believe a few qualities are essential for effective leadership. First is a strong work ethic. I take preparation seriously and believe elected officials should fully understand the issues before making decisions. Voters can trust that I will show up prepared and do the work. Second is a willingness to listen. Throughout this campaign I’ve spent a great deal of time talking with residents across Knox County, and those conversations help guide my approach to the issues we face. Third is a practical, solutions-oriented mindset. My experience in business and local government has taught me to approach challenges pragmatically and focus on results rather than politics.
First is managing growth responsibly. Knox County is growing quickly, and we must plan for that growth rather than simply react to it. Our comprehensive growth plan hasn’t been updated in nearly 20 years, and thoughtful planning is essential as our community continues to expand. Second is infrastructure investment. Traffic and infrastructure are major concerns across the county, and we need strategic investments in roads, traffic solutions, and public facilities to keep up with demand. Third is fiscal responsibility. Knox County has maintained relatively low taxes, and my goal is to keep our county one of the least taxed communities in Tennessee while still meeting the needs of residents.
First, Knox County is my home just like it is for all of you. This community shaped who I am, and I want to help ensure that the Knox County we see 20, 30, or 40 years from now is a community we’re proud of and one our children and grandchildren will be proud to call home. Second, I believe public service should always put people ahead of politics. That means showing up, listening to residents, and approaching decisions with a thoughtful, long-term perspective. Third, my campaign is focused on helping Knox County take charge of its future through responsible planning, infrastructure investment, and protecting the quality of life that makes our community a great place to live.
