My name is Jennie Drude, a lifelong Montgomery resident and Montgomery High School graduate. My husband, Jason, and I have been married nearly 21 years and are raising three children. I serve as PTO President at Creekside Elementary and Co-Chair of MISD Student Health Advisory Council. My passion is helping move Montgomery ISD forward to better support students, teachers, and our community.
I believe you make time for what is important to you. That’s why I’ve attended 95% of MISD school board meetings over the past six years and spend time on campus supporting our schools. With over 14 years in nonprofit work and many trips to Austin advocating for public education, I’ve gained valuable experience serving students, teachers, and our community.
Serving on the Strategic Planning Committee allowed me to work with teachers, administrators, and parents to set meaningful goals and accountability for our district. While progress has been made, gaps remain in student health and safety. As a board member, I will promote collaboration and ensure the board prioritizes funding that supports safe, healthy, and successful schools.
Teachers need stronger administrative support. Many are teaching general and special education students at the same time without adequate resources. When behavioral challenges arise, administrators must be available to help. Too many great teachers leave not because they dislike teaching, but because they lack the support needed to meet so many diverse student needs.
While Montgomery is growing, our district enrollment—and state funding—are declining. We must make MISD a place where students feel safe, teachers feel supported, and families want to be involved. I support strong community collaboration and leadership that works together to strengthen our schools and bring families back to public education.
MISD helps prepare students for democracy through history, government, and civics classes. We can continue strengthening critical thinking, respectful discussion, and civic engagement. The Board can support this by ensuring teachers have the resources they need and by encouraging programs that help students become informed members of their communities. Also, encourage seniors to register to vote!
