I serve our community as a children’s librarian at Austin Memorial Library, working with many Cleveland ISD students and families every day to promote literacy and a love of learning. As a current Cleveland ISD School Board member seeking re-election, I’m committed to supporting strong schools, responsible leadership, and opportunities that help every student succeed.
Through my work with Cleveland families and my service on the Cleveland ISD School Board, I bring both community perspective and governance experience to the role. I focus on thoughtful oversight, collaboration, and decisions that support strong student outcomes while maintaining fiscal responsibility for our taxpayers.
Cleveland ISD’s improvement plan highlights opportunities to strengthen academic achievement while ensuring students have the support they need to succeed. The Board’s role is to provide oversight, set clear expectations, and support district leadership so progress continues and students benefit from strong programs and resources.
Teachers are the foundation of Cleveland ISD. They face increasing demands and deserve strong support. The Board can help by prioritizing competitive compensation, maintaining safe learning environments, and ensuring educators have the tools and resources they need.
One of the biggest challenges for Cleveland ISD will be managing growth while maintaining strong academic outcomes and responsible use of district resources. The Board must focus on long-term planning, thoughtful budgeting, and transparency to ensure our schools remain strong for students and families.
Public schools play an important role in preparing students to participate in our democracy. Cleveland ISD helps students develop civic understanding through coursework and leadership opportunities. The Board can support this by encouraging programs that promote critical thinking, civic literacy, and community engagement.
