To provide the residents of Lost Creek Township the support and assistance from the resources that are available through the Township system. To assist them n applying for and directing to the avenues available. To assist in providing checks and balances on budgets, significant expenditures and policies, ensuring the appropriate use of the township resources.
Budget Oversight: Reviews, adjusts, and adopts the annual township budget and tax levies. Financial Auditing: Examines and approves the township trustee’s annual financial report. Ensures transparency and compliance with state laws. Capital Planning: Adopts an annual Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) as required by state law (HEA 1461-2025), identifying long-term infrastructure and equipment needs. Township Assistance Standards: Reviews and adopts the trustee’s proposed standards for providing emergency financial aid to residents. Compensation Decisions: Sets salaries for the trustee, township employees, and board members. Public Accountability: Conducts public meetings (typically monthly), maintains meeting minutes, and ensures decisions are recorded and accessible. Advisory Role: Collaborates with the township trustee on policy and service delivery, representing community interests. Emergency Powers: Can authorize borrowing or special appropriations in response to emergencies.
By providing open communication to the residents regarding meeting dates and times and encouraging their attendance. By making the residents aware that their involvement in voicing their thoughts, opinions, and suggestions will aid them in taking ownership in changes that involve their immediate community. Lost Creek township streams all meetings on YouTube as well as maintains an open-door policy where all meeting minutes and budgets are readily available for public review and discussion.
