I prioritize people over politics. Across Indiana, many residents are not truly thriving; they are struggling to get by. We must make meaningful investments in public education. I strongly support our public schools and believe current voucher policies have undermined their stability. Educators deserve compensation that reflects their value and contributions to our communities. Access to healthcare must be both available and affordable. Rural communities, in particular, are facing significant challenges and require focused attention and resources. The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission has allowed utility costs to rise without corresponding improvements to infrastructure. This situation is unacceptable and demands immediate action. Additionally, corporations should be held to the same standards as residents when it comes to paying sales tax on utilities.
Funding for schools needs to go back to previous administration funding formulas, meaning- pre-Mitch Daniels funding. Since the creation of the voucher system and the changes in the Public Education funding formula in the General Budget, Public Education, Teachers, and students have suffered. Since the creation of the voucher system, Indiana is no better with "school choice" as far as test scores and graduation rates go, than it was previous to the voucher system.

Indiana needs to immediately do away with straight ticket voting. We also need to make voting more accessible! Indiana has one of the lowest voter turnout rates in the United States.
Indiana has the lowest minimum wage allowed in the United States at $7.25/hr. Indiana needs to get with the time and make the minimum wage, a livable wage. At inception of the minimum wage, it was put into place for teens and young adults for their part time job. It is no longer that way. Many Hoosiers are having to work 3-4 minimum wage jobs just to scrape by.
Senate District 38 is mostly rural and farm industry. With Vigo County also holding four higher education institutions. The disastrous property tax bill from 2025, is destroying those things that make up Senate District 38! The Property Tax Funding Formula for farmland needs to be revamped, funding for higher education needs to be ensured- regardless of what degree or area of study a student chooses.

In addition, with the Property Tax legislation, Fire, Police, local governments, small and rural communities are going to see dangerous cuts to their budgets putting public safety are risk.
