I bring 11 years of experience on the Vanderburgh County Council, including five as President, where I’ve made tough, real decisions about budgets and taxpayer dollars. I also served as Chairman of the Evansville Convention & Visitors Bureau, helping lead the effort to deliver Deaconess Sports Park, an important project that has generated millions for our local economy.
For the past 29 years, I’ve worked at Anchor Industries, managing government business operations. Across my work with the County, Anchor, and the boards I serve on including Central Dispatch, Solid Waste, and Willard Library I’m practical, fiscally focused, and results driven. I do the homework, ask tough questions and make decisions with long-term sustainability in mind.
First, ensuring strong public safety by giving law enforcement, fire services, and emergency responders the resources, staffing, and support they need. That includes investing in modern equipment, training, and technology so they can respond quickly and effectively. Public safety is a core responsibility that I take seriously, we must support those who serve our community.
Second, improving and maintaining quality roads through smart investment—prioritizing repairs, long-term planning, preventative maintenance, and coordination between city and county efforts. Safe, reliable roads support residents, local businesses, and our economy.
Finally, managing taxpayer dollars responsibly with data-driven decisions, accountability, and transparency. By focusing on core services and planning ahead, we can meet today’s needs and prepare for the future without unnecessary burdens on taxpayers.
I want everyone in our community to get where they need to go safely—whether walking, biking, or riding the city bus. That means making smart, strategic investments in sidewalks, bike lanes, and transit connections, while coordinating closely with the City and transit authorities. It also means ensuring county dollars are spent on projects that truly improve safety, accessibility, and mobility for all residents. I’ll listen to the people who live here, so we fund solutions that actually work for them, not just what looks good on paper.
Ensuring affordable housing in Vanderburgh County takes a balanced approach, building new homes while preserving those we have. We should continue partnering with developers to expand workforce and mixed income housing, while streamlining processes and supporting accessible design for seniors and those with disabilities. Investing in home repair programs can help residents, especially seniors and working families. Strong collaboration with housing agencies and nonprofit partners will help ensure resources reach those who need them most. By leveraging state and federal funding, we can maximize impact without adding to the local tax burden. My goal is to ensure every resident has access to safe, stable, and affordable housing in Vanderburgh.
With these changes affecting revenue, the County needs to be smart and disciplined with spending. That means prioritizing essential services, carefully reviewing all contracts and projects to ensure value for taxpayers, and looking for efficiencies wherever possible. At the same time, we should explore creative ways to maintain service levels without placing unnecessary burdens on residents. Fiscal responsibility and accountability must guide every decision.
