The educational foundation of our youth is, without question, a priority for developing strong communities. As a teammate's mentor, I witness the vulnerabilities in our youth and in a school system bound by fiscal constraints. I witness the burnout of our educators and staff. It is our job as leaders to navigate the obstacles and find solutions to mitigate vulnerabilities together. I have been researching opportunities to resolve some of these challenges with a positive fiscal impact. I look forward to presenting in 2027 when elected.
Nebraska is rich in resources, innovation, technology, and education, with an emphasis on developing a strong workforce and offering opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurship. This positions the state for competitive long-term growth. That said, the financial tools currently used, such as tax increment financing, tax credits, or bonds, need to be placed thoughtfully, with full audit, to understand the overall impacts and fiduciary vulnerabilities.
Balancing priorities encompasses understanding the big picture and the impacts of every action, policy, and regulation enacted. District 30 has a strong rural and urban footprint, but the overall impacts on all Nebraskans through taxes, budgeting, and sustainable economic infrastructure provide the foundation for aligning each priority. Solid, streamlined communication from local, county, and state representatives enables fluent collaboration and educated decision processes.
The role of a state senator is vital in the executive oversight of state government affairs, balancing the budgets, protecting state assets, and promoting future economic development. As a key representative of a district, it's imperative to listen to, collaborate with, and address constituents' concerns and questions.
