I’m running for the North Carolina House to bring disciplined leadership, integrity, and real public service experience to Raleigh. After 21 years as an Air Force officer, pilot, and later as a commercial airline captain, my career required decisive judgement under pressure, careful management of complex missions and leadership grounded in responsibility and accountability. As a Saluda City Commissioner, I worked directly on budgets, infrastructure, and community needs. I’ll focus on strengthening education, lowering costs for families, improving rural healthcare, and ensuring practical, bipartisan solutions for District 113.

My highest priority when elected will be ensuring that North Carolina passes a responsible, transparent, and timely state budget. A well-structured budget is the foundation for every other priority in District 113—from education and workforce development to rural healthcare, infrastructure, and public safety. With my background in aviation and municipal leadership, I understand the importance of disciplined planning, clear standards, and accountability. I will focus on a budget that reflects those principles, supports essential services, and provides stability for families, schools, and local governments across our mountain communities.
As a member of the North Carolina House, my priorities for the coming year are to stabilize and strengthen public education funding, ensure predictability in how dollars flow to districts, and support teachers with competitive pay and classroom resources. We must invest in early literacy, school safety, mental health services, and career‑ready pathways that reflect our state’s workforce needs. Local districts should have flexibility to address community challenges, while the state maintains strong accountability and ensures equitable opportunities for every student.
Tax policy should support working families, strengthen our rural economy, and fund the services communities rely on. My aviation career taught me the value of precision, discipline, and accountability—qualities we need in tax decisions. I believe taxes must be fair and predictable, without shifting burdens onto small towns or retirees. Smart tax policy should invest in schools, healthcare, and infrastructure while helping local businesses grow and ensuring our mountain communities have the resources to thrive.
Improving safety in District 113 starts with strengthening the connection between mental health services and law enforcement. Many emergencies in our Western North Carolina communities involve mental health or substance use crises, and rural counties often lack the resources to respond effectively. I support laws that expand crisis stabilization services, improve addiction treatment, and increase school based mental health support. I also back statewide training standards so law enforcement officers have the tools and preparation needed to respond safely, de-escalate difficult situations, and protect families across our district
Once elected, a member of the legislature must represent everyone in the district. I am committed to strengthening public education, expanding career ready training, and ensuring that rural schools receive stable and predictable funding. I support practical investments in healthcare, mental health services, and emergency response so families across Western North Carolina can access the care they need. I also believe in fair, consistent tax policy that protects working families and small towns. In addition, I will focus on infrastructure, broadband expansion, and public safety improvements that help District 113’s communities thrive.
