The 2027 budget shortfall reflects the same financial strain residents are facing every day. As housing, food, and healthcare costs rise, people have less spending power, reducing county revenue. At the same time, demand for human services grows as more families need help staying housed, accessing mental health care, and meeting basic needs. The county must plan early, protect core services, use reserves carefully, and avoid balancing the budget on the backs of residents who are already struggling.
Addressing housing requires preserving existing affordable units while expanding supply. I support rehabilitation and acquisition to prevent loss of affordable housing, higher-density development where appropriate, and use of county land and financing tools to reduce costs. From a rural standpoint, the county should partner with municipalities to pursue federal housing grants, providing coordination and technical support so smaller communities can compete for funding and reduce the burden on local taxpayers.
People want to afford to live here, keep their families safe, and see their tax dollars used wisely. I focus on practical solutions: supporting housing working families can afford, backing public safety and mental health services that meet local needs, and partnering with rural communities to stretch resources. I work to ensure policies are applied equitably across the county so every family, town, and neighborhood benefits.
At a time when communities face complex challenges, experienced leadership matters. I’ve served on committees and commissions including Zoning and Land Regulation, EMS, City County Homeless Issues, UW Extension, Land Conservation, Specialized Transportation, and the Fish, Crystal, and Mud Lake Restoration District. Combined with my experience as a small business owner, higher education educator, wife, mother, and grandmother, I bring the knowledge and perspective to make practical, fair decisions that support families and rural communities.

Accountability in all areas needs to be addressed and acted on. No overlapping of work/tasks should be approved and a careful analysis of projected savings noted and entered.
Manufactured or modular non-subsidized affordable housing to start, privately financed and operated. A market driven solution without government or public programs. “Pack and stack” housing has limited appeal for quality of life.
Specific priorities would include taxation, especially real estate particularly senior citizens and rural settings. Also, insure that all board members attend meetings and return constituents phone calls and emails.
Civic participation is a key element in any public setting. All having varying degrees of complexity and work. Some areas I have dealt with are:
1. Developed a questionnaire to hand out to businesses to help raise money and awareness for Southwest Women WorkingTogether. A social service organization in Chicago that housed battered women and children.
2.In 1991 I began a campaign to stop the plans of a factory slated in Cross Plains close to Black Earth Creek. Eventually the DNR heard about this and helped to investigate further, and eventually halted idea.
3.Used my engineering knowledge to help erect the first Glacial Valley Playground.
4, Coached youth soccer and hockey for several years from recreational to competitive.

The County Board needs to take a close look a the many frivolous expenditures the county budget has in it and cut those from the budget completely
Specifically Items that are not of benefit to the county as a whole but only Madison
The best way to increase affordable housing is to decrease taxes so that developers can build at a more reasonable price and pass those savings along to the consumers
For unhoused people again the board needs to rein in spending on things that are not beneficial to the county so that they can restore funding to the different homeless shelters and communities that drew so many homeless people to our are to begin with
District 28 needs a voice for it rural communities, for far to long the county has been run as if the entire county is Madison.
The rural part of Dane county are paying taxes that they see little to no benefit from and then are stuck with challenges such as... Unreasonable Zoning regulations coupled with county Zoning staff that is less than helpful on guidance of the regulations
Stormwater and erosion control regulation that is designed for Madison but then forced upon Rural communities where the regulations do not fit or work. Again met with Unhelpful staff from Land and Water resources
I own and operate multiple small businesses in District 28 of Dane county
From doing so I know what a variety small business needs of our district are. I have interacted with large numbers of the constituents of our district through these businesses and have heard a large amount of concerns on how the County is being managed.
My home is in District 28 and I am in process of building a new home within District 28 and have been faced with a wide variety of challenges with this project
