The County Board must begin working with the County Executive immediately to identify community priorities and determine how best to achieve them with maximum results. We must also find cost savings within programs without reducing services. I would prioritize consolidating housing services with the City of Madison and working with communities outside Madison to reduce costs. Every effort must be made to limit the tax burden on Dane County residents. Responsible spending will help address our worsening housing crisis.
Federal tariffs are driving up the cost of building new affordable housing. We should explore alternative strategies, such as purchasing and renovating multi-family and distressed properties, as well as repurposing long-abandoned commercial spaces for housing. Services for the unhoused are currently fragmented and difficult to navigate. Streamlining these services, including consolidating housing efforts between Madison and Dane County, could improve outcomes while reducing reliance on costly contractors. Regular oversight is also needed to to ensure accountability and effectiveness.
District 12 residents have told me their top priorities are taxes, the housing crisis, and accountable government. These issues are connected: limiting the tax burden helps control housing costs, and both depend on strong fiscal management. We must closely track every dollar and focus spending on the most impactful programs. Taxpayer money should not benefit only a few. Strong contractor oversight, regular audits, and quarterly department head reviews will be a priority I will actively fight for to ensure transparency and accountability.
The job of a Dane County Supervisor requires a unique combination of skills, and I believe I bring that experience to serve the people of District 12 and Dane County. My work in corporate tax gives me insight into responsible management of taxpayer dollars. My time as an LGBTQ and housing advocate shows my commitment to the issues that matter most in our community. I have also demonstrated the courage to stand up and expose wrongdoing in county government, regardless of the odds. What truly sets me apart is my willingness to listen to District 12 residents and give honest answers—not just the answers people want to hear. This blend of experience, integrity, and accountability is why District 12 can count on me to represent them.

Dane County should address the 2027 budget deficit through responsible planning, not panic cuts. That means reviewing programs for effectiveness, prioritizing core services, and making data-driven decisions about spending. We should seek efficiencies, strengthen oversight, responsibly use reserves where appropriate, and pursue state, federal, and partnership funding. Budget choices must reflect community needs while maintaining long-term fiscal stability.
The county should focus on preserving existing affordable housing while supporting the creation of new units through partnerships with municipalities, nonprofits, and developers. This includes rehabilitation funding, tenant protections, and incentives for deeply affordable housing. For unhoused residents, we must expand housing-first approaches paired with mental health, substance use, and employment supports, recognizing that stable housing is essential to long-term outcomes.
Residents want safe, stable housing, access to services, fiscal responsibility, and a county government that listens. My approach would be to stay accessible, engage constituents regularly, and bring their concerns into county decision-making. Addressing priorities requires collaboration across departments and municipalities, transparent use of tax dollars, and policies that balance equity, accountability, and long-term sustainability.
My experience spans community leadership, human services, youth development, workforce support, and nonprofit operations. I have worked directly with families navigating housing, healthcare, disability services, and economic challenges, while also managing programs, budgets, and teams. This combination of frontline experience and operational responsibility prepares me to understand community needs and translate them into practical, accountable county policy.

State levy limits that don’t adjust for growth & inflation & ballooning employee healthcare have contributed to 2 years of budget deficits. With further cuts needed in ‘27, & many creative solutions already exhausted, I believe my role as Vice Chair of the Health & Human Needs committee is to take an in-depth look at social services contracts with community agencies for possible redundancies, efficiencies & synergies that could lead to cost reductions. I also think that, with many positions now being work-from-home, we should re-evaluate County office space & whether we have more than we need.
I recognize that the 12th supports a large portion of the County’s homelessness infrastructure. I support full funding for 24/7 operation of the Bartillon Drive men’s shelter because adequate access to support services make homelessness brief, rare, and non-recurring. But no amount of shelter or services will change the math that there are more people than roofs. I support the Affordable Housing Fund, which leverages private dollars to build affordable housing in the County, & attaches strings to funding & loans ensuring that those units remain affordable for decades to come.
Jet noise is a major concern in the 12th. I served not only on the Airport Commission, but the Airport Noise Abatement Committee. We are in the process of crafting and submitting a new Noise Mitigation Plan to the federal government that would secure funding for insulation & windows for those most affected by F35 takeoffs and landings. It could also fund an extension of the north runway to move noise to a less populated area. I would also continue to support innovative solutions to PFAS cleanup. I also support continued use of new firefighting foams that do not contain these chemicals.
I have been an advocate and political organizer for my entire adult life. My first job in Madison was as legislative aide to Democratic State Senator John Lehman.

My first term in office has been an eye-opening look into all the corners of daily life the County touches. My time specifically on the Health and Human Needs (HHN) committee has been a great way to keep my finger on the pulse on the social services such as homelessness, mental health, and support services that many in East Madison rely on. I am excited to approach my 2nd term with these experiences and relationships in-hand.
