I am Judge William "Bill" Squires III, and I am honored to serve as the Judge of the Guadalupe County Court at Law. My roots in this community run deep; my family has called Guadalupe County home for over 180 years, instilling in me a profound dedication to our neighbors and our local justice system. I bring a quarter century of legal experience to the bench. Before assuming my current role seven years ago, I served as a prosecutor for almost 20 years, specializing in complex cases involving Public Corruption, Major Crimes, and Child Exploitation. I have tried and presided over thousands of bench trials and hundreds of jury trials, always aiming to ensure fair and efficient justice.
That this Court continues to serve as an unshakeable safety net for the most vulnerable among us: our children, our elderly, and families in crisis. My court is more than just a legal venue; it is often the deciding factor in a family's well-being. Whether overseeing guardianship cases for aging parents or making difficult decisions in family law, I view my role as a protector. Since taking office, I have safeguarded over $100 million in assets belonging to vulnerable wards, ensuring these resources are strictly preserved for their care and not exploited. Having served as a prosecutor specializing in child exploitation, I know the real-world stakes. My goal is to deliver justice that is not only swift, but compassionate and secure.
I believe the greatest respect a judge can show a community is to value their time. My court is already a benchmark for efficiency; in 2025, we achieved a 129% clearance rate, resolving significantly more cases than were filed-up from 128%. To maintain this, I use proactive docket management and firm scheduling to stop the cycle of endless resets. For families involved in legal disputes, uncertainty is a heavy burden. My goal is to minimize that stress by delivering timely resolutions so lives can move forward. Efficiency never comes at the expense of justice. My extensive experience allows me to manage the pace of litigation without sacrificing the thoroughness required to protect the rights of every individual in my courtroom.
