I have been on Council in the past and helped to create the current Master Plan for the Town, locate a reliable source of water, provide a mechanism for town beautification among many other initiatives. I had to resign my seat because I moved to another district and when the seat came open recently in my current district, I decided to run to ensure we have a voice on council from our district that is a life-long resident, 53 years.
The biggest issue I foresee for Batesburg-Leesville is responsibly planning for the tremendous growth that is already happening and will continue to take place for the foreseeable future. We've known for some time that this was coming but we are now realizing it tangibly. We must create a plan to ensure the infrastructure is in place from roadways to classrooms to essential services in order to mitigate its harmful effects and take full advantage of its benefits while maintaining what makes Batesburg-Leesville the special place it has always been.
