Occupation CHIEF COURT CLERK
I have spent my 22-year career serving Denton County residents, specifically in the Justice of the Peace Courts. In 2000, I became a high school intern for Denton County Justice of the Peace Pct. 2, and this is when my passion for the Justice Court began. Once I graduated from high school in 2002, I was hired as a full-time Court Clerk and later promoted to Senior Court Clerk for Justice of the Peace Pct. 2. At 23 years old, I decided to attend school full time and resigned from my Senior Clerk position at JP Precinct 2. I entered back into full time employment with The Colony Police Department records division. When an open position for a Senior Clerk became available in JP Precinct 6, I immediately applied for it and was hired in 2010. In 2016, I was promoted to the Chief Clerk position where I continue to serve today. I have a Master Justice Court Clerk Certification and serve as a mentor to Justices of the Peace and Clerks all over the state of Texas.
I will continue to utilize technology to implement processes and procedures that will allow for increased efficiency. As a Chief Court Clerk I have the experience of implementing several new processes over the years that have assisted in efficiency. A couple of examples are accepting E-filing for Civil and Criminal Cases and employing an online portal for defendants to take care of their traffic ticket without having to come into the court. I will also utilize Zoom hearings as needed.
One issue facing the Justice of the Peace courts is providing equal access to the court whether a person is represented by an attorney or self-represented. Our court is the people’s court, and a person should be able to represent themselves. The Justice Court is the only court in Texas where the judge has the duty to develop the facts of the case. Applying this duty, along with the experience I have gained by observing the decision-making by six different justices of the peace, will ensure all litigants achieve justice whether they are representing themselves or are represented by an attorney. I intend to provide information packets to litigants that explain process and procedure and ensure they have access to all court forms available for use as either the plaintiff or defendant. I also intend to hold pre-trial hearings when needed to explain general court processes and expectations.
I have had the privilege of practicing impartiality everyday for 22 years as a court clerk. A court clerk must provide the same process and procedural information to everyone that they encounter over the phone or in-person at the court. When we are asked our opinion or what we would do we are unable to answer that question. It does not matter who the person is or how they treat us. Our service to the public is the same. A Justice of the Peace must remain impartial every day they are serving. If there is a personal relationship where the appearance of me presiding over a case seems that I would be bias I would recuse myself to allow another Judge to handle it.

Occupation ATTORNEY/JUDGE
As a licensed attorney with active judicial experience, I am exceptionally qualified to serve as Justice of the Peace. My qualifications include: Current Judicial Service: I currently serve as an Associate Magistrate for the City of Frisco, the Town of The Colony, and the Town of Cross Roads. In this role, I preside over court proceedings, make legal determinations, and ensure fair administration of justice on a regular basis. This hands-on judicial experience has given me invaluable insight into courtroom management, legal decision-making, and serving the public with impartiality and professionalism. Legal Education and Licensure: I am a licensed attorney with over 24 years of practice under my belt. During this time, I have litigated cases at every level, From Justice of the Peace courts to Appeals before the US 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. This foundation ensures I have the knowledge necessary to interpret and apply the law fairly and accurately.
1) I am committed to ensuring that pretrial dockets are set within 60 days from the time both parties appear in the case. This commitment to prompt scheduling will prevent cases from languishing in the system and ensure parties receive timely resolution of their disputes. 2) I will restructure the court docket to ensure the court is open every day of the workweek for settings. This increased accessibility will accommodate our growing population, reduce scheduling delays, and provide more convenient options for litigants and attorneys. 3) As an Associate Magistrate, I have managed high-volume dockets across multiple jurisdictions. This experience has taught me the importance of efficient case management and strategic scheduling to keep cases moving while maintaining fairness and quality. This can only be done by coordinating with the office staff to ensure all parties are on the same page concerning case timelines and the court's expectations.
1)One of my top priorities is ensuring that juveniles who come before the court for low-level offenses receive appropriate intervention rather than unnecessary criminalization. Early encounters with the justice system can be pivotal moments in a young person's life. As Justice of the Peace, I will work to connect juveniles and their families with diversion programs, counseling services, and community resources that address underlying issues and prevent future involvement in the system. My goal is to hold young people accountable while providing pathways to rehabilitation and success rather than creating barriers to their future. 2) As our county grows and becomes more diverse, ensuring that all residents—regardless of income, language, or background—can access and navigate the court system is essential. I will work to provide clear information about court processes, explore language access services where needed, and ensure our
1) While elections are partisan in Texas, once on the bench, I serve all members of our community equally regardless of their political affiliation, economic status, or any other factor. My judicial experience as an Associate Magistrate for Frisco, The Colony, and Cross Roads has already demonstrated my ability to render fair, impartial decisions based solely on the merits of each case. 2) If a party who has donated to my campaign appears before my court, I will recuse myself from that case. This clear, bright-line rule eliminates any question about my impartiality and ensures that no litigant—or their opponent—ever has reason to doubt that they are receiving fair treatment based solely on the facts and the law. 3) I maintain a clear distinction between my role as a candidate and my role as a judicial officer. Campaign activities and judicial duties are kept completely separate. Fundraising is conducted through appropriate channels and never involves discussions of cases before me.
