Biographical Information

What education, training and experience qualify you for this position?

What do you believe to be the most important responsibility of a Justice of the Peace?

What would be your top priorities if elected to this position?

I have served as a presiding judge for nearly a decade, with extensive experience adjudicating civil, criminal, and truancy matters, jury trials, and fulfilling the duties of a magistrate. I have completed more than 200 hours of judicial education through the Texas Justice Court Training Center and studied Criminal Justice at UTSA. I have collaborated with colleagues to develop and implement the Justice Court Juvenile Diversion Program and to establish a truancy case manager. I have also conducted over 500 death investigations as part of my responsibilities of being on call 24/7.
I believe the most important responsibilities of a JP are to uphold the law with fairness and impartiality, to ensure that every individual who comes before the court is treated with dignity and respect, and to administer justice efficiently and transparently. A JP must balance accountability with compassion, particularly in cases involving juveniles, families, and truancy, where early intervention can have a lasting impact. Equally important is a commitment to public safety, and continual education, so that decisions are informed, lawful, and consistent.
If re-elected, I will continue to serve with fairness and integrity while ensuring the court meets the evolving needs of our community. A key priority will be supporting efforts to provide court-appointed legal representation for individuals facing eviction, recognizing the critical impact housing stability has on families and communities. I am also committed to improving access to the court and increasing public understanding of court processes, while ensuring that the policies and procedures of the office remain transparent, responsive, and reflective of community needs.
