I am an experienced District Clerk, having served 7 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University, a Master of Education from the University of Houston and a law degree from Texas Southern University. I am a licensed Texas lawyer. I care about people. I want them to get the services they need. This is why every service the District Clerk offers is brought to the front doorsteps of Fort Bend County Citizens. Such dedicated service has earned me the title “the people’s clerk.”
1. Budget constraints, shortfalls and unfunded mandates: My plan is to use the Clerk's Records Management Account to purchase a bot (artificial intelligence) to perform some of the clerical duties in the district clerk's office such as pulling documents from the electronic filing system and the redaction of documents.
2. The District Clerk needs her own Information Technology (IT) Department. Fort Bend County has a centralized IT Department. All departmental software and projects must be approved by IT and scheduled. This process slows down workflow. If the District Clerk had a dedicated IT Department, services would be delivered more rapidly and efficiently to Fort Bend citizens.
I am a law graduate, small business owner, and longtime Fort Bend County resident of over 22 years with deep roots in community service. I am a graduate of the Fort Bend District Attorney’s Citizens Academy, Sugar Land Police and Fire Citizens Academies, and the FBISD Board Leadership Academy. These experiences, along with years of volunteer work, voter education, and civic engagement, have prepared me to run an efficient, transparent, and accessible District Clerk’s office that serves all.
The two most pressing issues in the District Clerk’s office are accessibility and efficiency. Many residents struggle to navigate court records, filings, and services. I will address this by improving customer service, simplifying processes, and expanding community outreach so residents better understand available services. The second issue is transparency and timely access to records. I will ensure records are managed accurately, requests are handled promptly, and the office operates with accountability so the public can trust the system.
I have extensive experience in management and administration. My formal experience includes my education in obtaining a B.S. Psychology. M.S. Administration of Justice and Security and M.S. in Psychology. I also took courses in Doctorate program of Industrial Organizational Psychology. I also attended and participated in management trainings throughout the State of Texas. I have experience in working with the legal community in collaboration of court reports, maintenance of records in database
As Fort Bend County District Clerk, I will be objective and collaborator with the legal community and public. Effective collaboration and positive working relationships will be a priority to ensure healthy courts for healthy community and recommendations from the legal community and public will offer opportunities to hear vantage points from people that are impacted by the district clerk's office. Efficiency and accessibility to legal records are pressing issues that must be addressed immediately to improve accessibility and to improve overall experience with the legal system. A strong relationship between the IT department and development of an integrated justice technology committee
My background combines public safety, city management and hands-on court experience. I've managed people and budgets for a major corporation and served as a Deputy Clerk handling official records. That experience prepares me to run the District Clerk's Office efficiently, accurately, and with respect for the people it serves.
The two most pressing issues I see are managing the workload so cases don't stall and protecting the integrity of court records.
Fort Bend County is one of the fastest growing counties in the State. That creates more cases for the courts to process. We manage the workload by addressing bottlenecks and making sure technology works for staff to move cases faster instead of slowing them down.
We address the court records by focusing on training staff in the art of file management with regard to accuracy, speed and file sensitivity.
My focus will be efficiency, accuracy and service.
