I have served as State Representative for the past 16 years. I have served as an Associate Municipal Judge for the City of Houston
1) Texas leads the nation with the highest number of uninsured residents. I plan to file legislation again for Medicaid expansion so that all Texans have access of quality affordable healthcare. 2) Vouchers hurting our public schools. I plan to file legislation to repeal vouchers and fully fund our local public schools so that all our children have an opportunity for a strong public school education regardless of their zip codes to compete in a global economy.
First of all I plan to file legislation again to raise the minimum wage in Texas that is currently $7.25/hour to at least $15.00 an hour and increased each year until it reaches $25.00 an hour. Second, I will continue advocating for affordable housing with tax credits to build more affordable housing for seniors and middle class families.
