I bring more than 30 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, including 12 years in state government. I hold a BBA, an MBA, and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when our county failed to reach marginalized communities, I founded Hays Latinos United to fill the gap. Over the past three years as County Commissioner, I've focused on expanding services, improving public safety, strengthening infrastructure, and modernizing county government.
The county judge serves as the top executive for the county. As the leader, I believe this position should focus on uniting municipalities and acknowledging that no single government can address the challenges of growth alone. This starts with a strategic plan, which our county has lacked since 2010. For too long, divisive politics and political theater have served as unnecessary distractions. We need to find common ground in our planning efforts and create a shared vision for the future of Hays County.
My top three priorities will continue to be proactive infrastructure and mobility, public safety and planning for the future.
I have built my life using professional immersion, public service, and executive leadership. I have led small businesses as a venture capitalist, turning ideas into operating organizations, managing budgets, teams, and complex projects. I have worked alongside public safety and emergency response professionals, gaining firsthand experience in coordination, preparedness, and decision-making under pressure. My background aligns directly with the executive, operational, and leadership responsibilities of the County Judge.
The County Judge is the Chief Executive of the county. The most important responsibility is leadership through development, not authority. That means training people up, building capable teams, and helping others see their potential rather than relying on power or politics. A strong County Judge sets direction, prepares the county for emergencies, demands accountability, and creates an environment where good people are empowered to do great work for the public. That includes moving away from outdated legacy chains of command and empowering people to serve the county better. Customer obsession.
My top priorities will be modernizing county operations, strengthening emergency preparedness and coordination, and increasing transparency and public access to county government. I will focus on building a capable workforce, eliminating outdated systems and practices, and ensuring tax dollars are used responsibly. Every decision will be measured by one standard: does it improve service, trust, and outcomes for the people of Hays County.
I am qualified to serve as Hays County Judge through a combination of education, community leadership, and executive experience in county government. I attended Texas State University and have served as Hays County Judge since 2019. Prior to my election, I held leadership roles on numerous local boards and commissions focused on planning, budgeting, arts, and civic engagement.
As County Judge, I preside over Commissioners Court and lead countywide responsibilities that include emergency management, elections, budgeting,
The County Judge’s most important responsibility is protecting the public’s interest and ensuring county government truly works for everyone. That means leading Commissioners Court with fairness and transparency, coordinating effective emergency responses, expanding mental-health resources, safeguarding elections, supporting a fair justice system, managing growth with fiscal responsibility, and being a careful steward of taxpayer dollars, community values, and the future of Hays County
My priorities include protecting health and safety through strong public-health systems and emergency preparedness; modernizing the justice system with fair alternatives to jail; expanding mental-health care and diversion programs; supporting small businesses and representing working families; promoting inclusive engagement; improving services and infrastructure — while continuing to deliver the lowest tax rate during my time as County Judge.
