The duties of a state legislator in the Arkansas House of Representatives include proposing, debating, and voting on bills that will amend or become state law. Additional roles include oversight and handling state budget issues.
Your job as an Arkansan is to take care of yourself and your family's emotional, spiritual, and financial well-being. My job as a state legislator is make your job less complex.
As a current elected official, serving on the Pulaski County Quorum Court, I bring valuable experience to this role. I have worked with colleagues from different political parties and socializations. One of the most valuable skills I bring is the gift of listening more than I speak.
The state needs to do more in combating our abysmal infant mortality rate. I plan to introduce legislation that will further optimize doulas by increasing travel stipends. Since some rural moms live over an hour from the nearest delivering hospital, the state could provide travel stipends or higher "rural-tier" reimbursement to encourage doulas to serve these isolated areas.
