The Office of the Attorney General is one of the largest law firms in the State. The Attorney General serves as Arkansas’s lawyer, chief law enforcement officer, and chief consumer advocate.

The job of the Attorney General is to serve as the state's top lawyer and public safety advocate. This means that state agencies rely on my office for sound legal advice, and I take legal action on behalf of the citizens of Arkansas, including pushing back against the federal government when they exceed their authority. It also means that I work with law enforcement and our legislature to ensure we keep our communities safe. Additionally, I am the chief consumer advocate for the people of Arkansas, and I go to court to protect them from bad actors.
Prior to being elected Attorney General, I served two terms as Lieutenant Governor, two terms as a member of Congress from the 2nd Congressional District, and also served as a federal prosecutor. These positions gave me insight into our state and federal government, and allowed me to identify areas in need of reform. Just as importantly, I am also a colonel in the Arkansas Army National Guard and have served as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps for more than 29 years. My experience in the military, state government, and the federal government make me the most qualified candidate for this job.
If re-elected by the voters, I plan to continue working each and every day to make Arkansas a safer place to live, work, and raise a family. Under my leadership, the office of the Attorney General has led on several key public safety issues, including parole reform, combatting human trafficking, fighting organized retail crime, cracking down on illicit massage parlors, protecting Arkansans from the scourge of fentanyl as well as the opioid epidemic, and a whole host of other initiatives. Not only will I continue this work in a second term, I will continue to find new ways to use my office to make life better for everyday Arkansans.
