Lindenwold School District
{_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}
An elected school board member serves a three-year term. The school board represents the concerns of citizens, taxpayers and parents to the school administrators, and represents the needs of the students and school district to citizens, taxpayers and parents. The school board does not operate the district on a day-to-day basis; that is the job of the superintendent (the district’s chief executive). Rather, the school board sets policies, goals and objectives for the district, and holds the superintendent responsible for implementing those policies and goals. (Abridged from NJ School Boards Association website)
Why are you running for the board of education (Why are you seeking reelection)? What expertise do you bring?
If elected, what would be your top two or three goals for your first year as a Board member? (If you are an incumbent, what would be your top two or three goals for the first year in this new term?)
What is your view on test scores? What steps will you take to improve these scores (if improvements are needed)?
What measures, if any, do you feel are needed to improve the safety and security of our schools?

Slogan
Experience, Integrity, Commitment
I was a teacher and professor of Spanish for over 50 years at various levels. I have served 34 years on the Lindenwold Board of Education. I care deeply about the education and success of every student in our schools. I work diligently to provide for the individual needs of each student. I am dedicated to my community and its people. I am also completely bilingual so I can communicate with our large Latino population.
Goal 1 Continue efforts to attract and retain excellent teachers.
Goal 2 Continue Increase in aligning instruction with NJ State Standards
Goal 3 Keep taxes at current level. No increase
Although testing is not the most important thing that we do, it provides us with data as to how our students are achieving. I believe that improving instructional strategies and aligning them with the standards will help to improve scores. Increased professional development as already scheduled, should also be beneficial in achieving this goal.
We have already used state funding to improve security in our buildngs in the last 2 years. We added secure vestibules and windows for drop offs as well as increased resource officers in concert with the local police department.
We have also increased our mental health offerings and focused on social emotional learning to give our students needed resources to address their concerns.
