Haddonfield School District
{_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}
An elected school board member serves a three-year term. The school board represents the concerns of citizens, taxpayers and parents to the school administrators, and represents the needs of the students and school district to citizens, taxpayers and parents. The school board does not operate the district on a day-to-day basis; that is the job of the superintendent (the district’s chief executive). Rather, the school board sets policies, goals and objectives for the district, and holds the superintendent responsible for implementing those policies and goals. (Abridged from NJ School Boards Association website)
Why are you running for the board of education (Why are you seeking reelection)? What expertise do you bring?
If elected, what would be your top two or three goals for your first year as a Board member? (If you are an incumbent, what would be your top two or three goals for the first year in this new term?)
What is your view on test scores? What steps will you take to improve these scores (if improvements are needed)?
What measures, if any, do you feel are needed to improve the safety and security of our schools?

Strong Schools Together
I am running for re-election to continue the work I started in helping pass the bond referendum that will bring full-day kindergarten to Haddonfield and provide the space needed for our growing student population. I want to remain on the Board to oversee construction and ensure we deliver on the promises made to our community. I am committed to supporting our district in maintaining the high-quality education and opportunities that make Haddonfield schools exceptional. With over over twenty-five years of experience in education, I bring a wealth of expertise and knowledge to my position on the Board.
While it’s important for Board members to avoid focusing on just a few areas since effective oversight requires openness to all issues facing the community, one priority I can identify now is ensuring proper oversight of the work funded by the recent bond referendum. Delivering on our promises to expand space and support full-day kindergarten is critical. That said, I recognize that the work of a Board member changes day to day, and I am prepared to address whatever challenges and opportunities arise to support the students and families of Haddonfield.
I see test scores as valuable tools to understand student learning, but they tell only part of the story. Scores help us spot trends and guide curriculum decisions, but success also means growth over time, classroom performance, and engagement. If scores show we need improvement, I believe in using the data constructively by giving teachers time to review results and providing the resources and professional development they need to respond. The goal isn’t to teach to the test, but to ensure every student is supported and challenged. By balancing assessment with the process of learning, we can raise achievement while keeping students curious, confident, and ready for the future.
I believe our schools are safe and that we’ve made significant progress in building a strong security infrastructure over the past several years. We’ve improved building vestibules and entry procedures, and we worked with the borough to reinstate the School Resource Officer at the high school. Safety is always a priority, and we will continue to monitor and adjust as needed, but I am confident that our current measures keep our students secure. This has been a focus of my work since I joined the Board nearly seven years ago, and I remain committed to maintaining a safe learning environment.
