An elected school board member serves a three-year term. The school board represents the concerns of citizens, taxpayers and parents to the school administrators, and represents the needs of the students and school district to citizens, taxpayers and parents. The school board does not operate the district on a day-to-day basis; that is the job of the superintendent (the district’s chief executive). Rather, the school board sets policies, goals and objectives for the district, and holds the superintendent responsible for implementing those policies and goals. Slogan
Education Excellence
My commitment to ensuring our children receive the highest quality education while being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars drives my decision to run.
Having served on the board for the past three years, I gained valuable insights and experience that I believe are crucial for our continued progress. My previous tenure on the board has further strengthened my understanding of the challenges and opportunities within our education system.
In addition to my board experience, I have had the honor of serving as the education advisor to the provincial director of education while I was an Army officer in Afghanistan. This role allowed me to witness firsthand the transformative power of education in diverse and challenging environments
Remembering that the Board does not run the schools, rather we ensure the schools are run well. I see two important priorities.
Enhance Teacher Professional Development: Regular workshops, mentorship programs, and access to resources will equip teachers with the latest strategies and technologies.
Strengthen Student Support Services: Tutoring, counseling, parental involvement, and extracurricular activities will address students' individual needs and improve test scores.
While test scores are not the only measure of student achievement, they are an essential tool for evaluating and improving educational outcomes. They provide objective data that can inform instruction, guide policy decisions, and ensure accountability within the education system. By using test scores to identify strengths and weaknesses, educators can tailor their teaching to meet the needs of individual students, ultimately leading to better learning outcomes. Additionally, test scores play a crucial role in ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed.
By implementing comprehensive security measures, conducting regular safety drills, fostering a positive school climate, engaging parents and the community, implementing anti-bullying programs, utilizing technology, and conducting regular safety audits, schools can create a safe and supportive environment for all students.
