The biggest issue is that residents often feel left out of local decisions. I’d make meetings easier to access, expand communication beyond the website, and create more chances for people to share input early on. That way, our borough government truly reflects the voices of the community.
Hi-Nella is a small town with a big heart, but that also means our services cost more per resident than in larger towns. I believe the best path forward is to share services with our neighbors where it makes sense, things like public works equipment, purchasing, or administrative functions, so we can save money and improve efficiency without losing our identity. Full consolidation should only be considered if sharing doesn’t deliver results and if the community supports it. My priority is making sure Hi-Nella stays strong, affordable, and true to the people who call it home.
To grow Hi-Nella’s economy, I’d make it easier for small businesses to open and expand by simplifying zoning and permitting. I’d support local entrepreneurs with grants and county resources, improve our business areas with better lighting and sidewalks, and promote Hi-Nella’s strengths through a “Why Hi-Nella” campaign. The goal is simple: attract businesses that fit our community and keep our town affordable and vibrant.
I bring a mix of professional and political experience to this role. As a nurse and former daycare teacher, I know how to listen, solve problems, and care for people. My experience as a Precinct Committeewoman, Regional Director for Florida Young Democrats, and Campaign Manager, along with training from Ruth’s List Florida, gives me the skills to organize, lead, and advocate effectively for our community.
