I am well trained in reading, analyzing, and understanding various compliance requirements and government regulations and then figuring out how to implement them in the most efficient manner. I am often needing to figure out what new regulations mean for my clients just like a Council person will need to figure out what they mean for the city and residents.
Additionally, I am responsible for creating, evaluating, and tracking company budgets. Estimating real costs, and not what someone hopes something will cost, is difficult. Going into it with eyes wide open is important and I have much experience with it.
Safe Streets - District 2 is lacking a lot of the pieces needed for people to get around safely by any means other than a car. The district in general is one of most low income areas of the city and many residents rely on walking, biking, bussing, etc. It's imperative that there we adequate crosswalks, signals, bike lanes, and signage.
Safe Homes - Removing the lead lines that city already has the financials to fix needs to be prioritized. Passing Good Cause Eviction as the baseline protection for renters in Troy is another aspect of this.
Transparency in Government - The number of meetings that the administration has been holding that are supposed to be open to the public but are not actually announced so that the public can attend is scary. All meetings should be announced in a standardized way, in the same places, with the same amount of notice.
Financial reports need to be prepared and released in a timely manner and posted for the public to view.
I founded a community book club in 2022 that is still going strong! The books are chosen democratically by members and we discuss them the third Sunday of each month. I've expanded to also have author talks on the last Sunday of the month to highlight local authors. I think it's important to support the community especially through artists.
I have 2 adorable cats and an amazing partner who support me every day. I have 3 younger sisters and was the first in my family to earn a college degree. One of my sisters made me a first time Auntie a few weeks ago and a second sister is due with my nephew on Election Day!
