Experience and Qualifications I have over 35 years of experience in the labor movement as an organizer, leader, advocate and negotiator After college, I worked as a child welfare caseworker and quickly became involved in my union, SSEU Local 371 DC37. During my 21 year tenure at Local 32BJ SEIU, I stood up to big developers and corporate bosses and won protections on the job, higher wages, health benefits, and improved pensions for workers and their families.
Community Involvement I was born and raised in the Bronx and have always felt a strong connection to my neighborhood in Throggs Neck, from my teenage years through adulthood, which ultimately led me to buy a home here 12 years ago and raise my son in this community. I’ve volunteered, collaborated with local businesses and organizations, and actively participated in community events to make a positive impact and build stronger connections with my neighbors.

Affordability Crisis: The high prices of daily necessities like groceries are continuing to go up, while housing, healthcare and childcare become more and more unaffordable. People are being priced out of our neighborhoods, and of NYC all together. I’ve seen how the American Dream my family achieved has become out of reach for so many hard working people.

Public Safety & Quality of Life Issues: Our communities deserve better than dirty streets, car thefts and disappearing small businesses. Many people in our neighborhoods are feeling unsafe and insecure. Public safety is a huge issue all around our district and cannot be ignored.

Education & Jobs: I raised my son in this district and I’m a proud public school mom. We need to make sure that our schools are fully funded — including after school enrichment programs for our youth and vocational programs. We must also ensure that the schools are well maintained.
Affordability Crisis: As a labor organizer, I fought big landlords and developers to secure higher wages and benefits and fought for responsible development that creates good jobs and invests in the community. I have a proven record in the labor movement of fighting for working families and winning, and I will do the same on the City Council.

Public Safety & Quality of Life Issues: On City Council, I will make sure our community is not forgotten, and that we get the resources we need to improve quality of life for all. I will push for more cops and patrols in our neighborhoods, improved response times and more serious investigations into prosecuting crimes like car theft and break-ins.

Education & Jobs: On the City Council, I will fight to fully fund our NYC Public Schools. I’ll push for funding early childhood education and expanding after school programs and vocational programs in our schools so that those who don’t want to go to college can learn a trade and get a good job.
In the first 100 days, my top priority will be to build relationships within the council, with govt agencies, community based organizations and with constituents throughout the district. It will also be to set budget priorities for the FY 2027 budget which will include investments in affordable housing, child care, education, health and mental health and public safety.
I’d like to improve the quality of life for all the constituents in the district.
The largest impediments to achieving this goal are the costs, and the multiple factors that impact quality of life. We need to address issues of crime, sanitation, affordable housing, mental healthcare, and youth services and senior services. However, it is a fight worth having and I believe I am the best person to make progress on these issues on the City Council. In my nearly 4 decade career as an effective organizer, I fought big landlords and developers to secure higher wages and benefits for workers. I have a proven record in the labor movement of fighting for working families and winning. I will do the same on the City Council.

The top three issues facing District 13 are public safety, protecting the quality of life in our neighborhoods, and investing in our community to support local services and working-class families. Residents consistently tell me they want safe streets, more police presence, and active enforcement against illegal activity (unregulated smoke shops, dumping, etc.) , while also preserving the small-density character of their neighborhoods. Additionally, families are asking for better access to early education, improved parks and recreational spaces, and resources that directly support working-class households. These priorities guide my work in office and shape every budget, policy, and community initiative I undertake.
On public safety, I have delivered concrete results: securing nearly $12 million for precincts across the district for equipment, technology, and programs; adding 17 new officers to the 45th Precinct to strengthen neighborhood coverage; and installing over a dozen Argus surveillance cameras in key areas to enhance community safety. I also funded a new Harbor Patrol boat to patrol our waterfront and address safety concerns, and I have stood firmly against weakening tools for law enforcement, including voting against abolishing the gang database.

To protect neighborhood quality of life, I have actively opposed reckless citywide rezoning initiatives like the City of Yes, shut down illegal cannabis shops, enforced rules against illegal street vending, and worked with NYPD Harbor Patrol, the Coast Guard, and other enforcement agencies to stop loud and unsafe party boats. During my first year in office, I secured $170 million in capital funding to upgrade sewers and draining systems, millions for our NYPD, FDNY, and continue to invest in DSNY and local organizations that keep our streets clean from graffiti and garbage.

With regard to real community investments, I expanded Pre-K seats at PS 175, PS 105 , and PS 108 , funded senior centers, youth programs, and parks and community facilities, and delivered millions more in capital investments for our libraries, schools, and local community organization to directly benefit our working-class families. My office also provides permanent veteran services every month, and District 13 has the highest number of open veteran cases of any council district, reflecting the trust residents place in our support.
In the first 100 days, my priorities will be to fully implement recent safety and budget wins, ensuring precinct funding, new officers, Argus cameras, and the Harbor Patrol boat are operational and serving District 13 residents. I will continue to protect neighborhood character and quality of life, enforcing zoning protections, combating illegal shops, addressing noise complaints, and preventing overdevelopment in small-density areas. Finally, I will expand community investments, including opening new Pre-K seats, strengthening youth and senior programs, supporting cultural and recreational initiatives, distributing food and school supplies, and improving parks, libraries, and community centers to ensure working-class families directly benefit from city government.
My most ambitious goal is to secure long-term, sustainable infrastructure and community investments—covering sewers, roads, schools, parks, transit, and local services—while preserving the small-community character that defines District 13. I want neighborhoods to remain safe, livable, and family-oriented, with access to education, youth programs, senior services, cultural opportunities, and veteran support. Growth should be responsible, inclusive, and paired with the resources residents need to thrive.
The largest obstacles are bureaucratic delays and citywide policies that often overlook the real people of our districts, which can slow down critical projects. Despite these challenges, my record demonstrates that I can deliver results for District 13. I have proven that I can fight for our community, navigate city bureaucracy, and ensure residents see tangible, lasting improvements in safety, quality of life, and community investment.
