I am currently serving on our D6 Board as Chairwoman and have served since 2014. I bring experience and dedication, along with a true desire to serve.
My entire professional career has been spent in education. I taught in D6 before I had my two sons. I am currently Senior Instructor and Department Chair of the Education Department at Wofford College, my alma mater. I bring educational expertise, as I have been in education since 1995.
I graduated from Dorman High School, and both of my sons did, as well. I have been a part of this district since I was in first grade. I bring so much heart for our students, educators, and community!
My top three priorities will always be SAFETY, STUDENTS and EDUCATORS!
We must make sure safety of every person in our buildings remains our top priority.
We also must make sure we are preparing students to be college and career ready upon graduation. It is important to also make sure we are keeping a check on the mental health of everyone in our district. We continue to provide our students many opportunities in academics, arts, and athletics.
Our educators must be prioritized and supported, as well. They have a tremendous responsibility set before them each year, and they do so much more than teach.
I sincerely believe we have the best district in this state! Our superintendent and district office leadership team are outstanding! That being said, education is complex and we are always listening to feedback on ways we can improve! We are a very available and accessible school board. This is very important so that we may connect with our community, as well as our families of students.

Experience matters. When I ran for school board four years ago, I was an interested parent of four D6 children and spouse of a D6 teacher. What happens in our schools every day is important to me. I thought my background and professional experience could be helpful to an experienced and diverse board. Having served on the board the last four years, I now fully understand how our work is to ensure that children remain first and our staff remain supported to accomplish the important goals of our district in the education of all students to become productive citizens in our community.
First, student and staff safety. We must continue to provide a safe and secure environment for our educators to work and our students to thrive. Remaining vigilant in this area is critical.
Second, focus on educators and a path for every student, regardless of background or limitations. Working to more effectively recruit and retain talented teachers to our district, supporting them to help create success with every child to be successful, no matter their background or limitations.
Third, long range planning for the growth of our district. Effective forethought and fiscal responsibility will as we look out 20 years.
We have an incredible school district with fantastic educators making a difference every day. What I feel is imperative is not a change, but a continue. We must continue to listen to our staff...their insights help us understand the "big picture" areas of focus that will keep our trajectory and ensure our family first culture thrives.
