I am a 58-year resident of School District 1. I, my wife and our son are all products of District 1
I have seen the need for new schools and for updating some of what we have for some time now, and when the referendum came forward, I decided that maybe I could help get it passed through and be able to help get the ball rolling.

There should be councilors around the clock that deals with specific issues. The district needs to be there for the students or staff that are suffering from these events
It should not impact policy. If a parent has a problem, they need to bring it to the attention of the teacher who will then take it up the chain of command. The curriculum is set by state and national standards. The teachers will follow the curriculum. Books should not be banned from the school libraries because if it is needed for a class, then the student will have to go elsewhere and find it.

A lot of changes are taken place in education on the federal, state, and local levels. Our district is growing. I feel like I can add some value and common sense to the decisions that will need to be made as we grow.
Our community values are very important to us.
Our very strong teacher commitment to see our students succeed.
We are improving and revitalizing our school buildings
School districts are made up of people and all these issues effect everyone in some way. Calling attention to these things is a good start. I don't have specifics, but everyone should work together to help improve living conditions in our communities.
District One has policies in place for parents concerns about things like these. Most of these kinds of complaints will fall into these policies. Everyone should be heard; the lesson plans and curriculum have been approved by teachers and administration.
