Involvement in Community HSA volunteer, Girl Scout leader, public librarian, twin mom, and good neighbor!
I am a Central New Jersey native and 12 years resident of Readington Township. My two elementary-aged children attend the Readington Township Public Schools. I’m familiar with Readington’s youth organizations, as I consistently volunteer for local sports leagues, the Readington Home School Association, and I have been the leader of Girl Scout Troop 80928 since their formation as Daisies in kindergarten. As a public librarian, I have spent the past 20 years working to provide for the educational, informational, and entertainment needs of individuals from all backgrounds and political agendas with little to no bias. I have a passion for public service, and a love of lifelong education.
Oversight and review of policies, procedures, budgets, strategic plans, and staffing for the district’s school system.
Parents have every right to review and limit their own children’s reading materials. Parental concerns and content challenges should be considered with the utmost seriousness via established school board protocols within the limits of state and federal laws.
I value the current strategic plan goals and believe their positive implementation over the past five years has been beneficial for our students and the community at large. I would support the continuation of these goals:

1. Utilizing an inquisitive learning education model by developing an inquiry-based framework that fosters student-driven problem identification, analysis, and solutions. 2. Establishing community and regional partnerships to create meaningful educational experiences, preparing students for civic engagement and real-world connections. 3. Building a school community where students feel secure and valued, both digitally and non-digitally, while developing self-awareness and awareness of others and the environment.
Fiscally conservative, student-centered, and community engaged. I think the district’s leadership should prioritize lifelong student success while building community support and maintaining a low tax burden for residents.

Involvement in Community I am a 7 year resident of Readington Township and am eager to continue serving our community on the Readington Township Board of Education. Over the past 3 years, I have diligently served on the Board of Education and am currently the Chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Negotiations Committee. I previously served as a member of the Policy and Communications Committee. I have a history of community volunteering including 4 years serving the Readington Home School Association and 1 year supporting a local Boy Scout Troop.
As a 7 year resident of beautiful Readington Township, I am eager to continue serving our community by strengthening our schools to shape our future leaders. I am an incumbent on the Board of Education, the current Finance Committee Chair and a member of the Negotiations Committee and a 25+ year veteran of the life sciences industry, which gives me both local and professional experience to benefit our community. I am moderate in my views and want to see public education that is equitable and accessible to all students while maintaining parental choice for sensitive curriculum topics. I have one child currently in the district and a student at HCRHS and I know first-hand how well Readington prepares students to excel as they advance to higher education. I am a proponent of creating connection between the school district, teaching staff and the community.
The School Board is responsible for setting the vision and policy for the district, hiring and evaluating the superintendent, budget oversight, ensuring curriculum and academic standards meet state standards, monitoring student achievement and liaising with the community. The Board should be focused on the 'what' or goals and policies of the district, leaving the 'how' or day to day operations to the Administration.
Parental rights are critical to ensure a strong foundation of trust and partnership between the district and families and books are a foundational source of education. As education evolves, children move beyond 'learning to read' to 'reading to learn'. I believe the school should offer a wide variety of books for children to select and parents should maintain the opportunity to opt-out of books that don't align with their individual family values. With trust and the right district policies, such as opt-outs, book banning is unnecessary since parents can personalize choices that align with their own values.
I would like to see the district continue to focus on strengthening district math scores which are above the state average but not making the same rate of improvement as other areas such as English Language Arts. In addition, we have an opportunity to ensure that our district policies are current with the evolving social/economic climate. Lastly, fiscal responsibility is critical to ensure we can sustain our effort over time, enabling students, staff and our community to continue to thrive. I will dedicate my energy to these efforts by collaborating with the current administration and Board members to create a shared sense of urgency, engage in collegial debate to stretch perspectives and integrate these views into a unified effort to benefit our students, staff and community.
A successful superintendent should have expertise in education, demonstrated experience or previously demonstrated learning agility and an inherent curiosity and commitment for continuous improvement.

Slogan For Traditional Values
Involvement in Community Beyond her role on the Board, Justina actively contributes to the community as a volunteer with the Readington Township Beautification Committee and her daughter’s booster club.
I have proudly served on the School Board for the past three years and am seeking the opportunity to continue making a positive impact on our students. During my tenure, I have completed numerous board training programs and earned my New Board Member Boardsmanship Certification (NBM) within my first two years of service. I am a committed advocate for school safety, academic excellence, and the promotion of traditional values that support strong families and responsible citizenship. I remain dedicated to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed in a safe, respectful, and high-achieving learning environment.
School board members are responsible for setting the district’s vision, establishing policies, and ensuring academic goals are met. They oversee the budget, make fiscally responsible decisions, and hire and evaluate the superintendent. Board members are also accountable for student performance and district operations. Additionally, they represent the community’s values, advocate for students, and ensure all actions comply with legal and ethical standards.
Parents should have a voice in their children’s education and be informed and engaged in curriculum decisions. It’s important to choose the right books for the right age, ensuring materials are age-appropriate while respecting academic freedom. Striking this balance helps support both family values and a rich learning environment.
As a board member, I would prioritize policies and programs that ensure the safety of students and staff by supporting effective security measures and fostering a positive school climate. I would advocate for competitive teacher retention initiatives, such as professional development and fair compensation, to maintain a stable and experienced workforce. Additionally, I would support early intervention programs and resources that help identify and address students’ academic or social-emotional needs promptly, ensuring every student receives the necessary support to succeed.
Three important qualities I would look for in a candidate for district superintendent are strong leadership, effective communication, and a deep commitment to student success. Strong leadership is essential to guide the district’s vision, motivate staff, and make tough decisions that benefit students and the community. Effective communication ensures transparency, builds trust among parents, teachers, and board members, and fosters collaboration. Finally, a deep commitment to student success means the superintendent prioritizes academic excellence, equity, and the well-being of every student, creating an environment where all can thrive.

Involvement in Community I am a parent with two children in the school district, HSA fundraising, community events
I am a parent of two students attending the Readington Schools and an educator with over 15 years of experience in public education. My career began as a high school English teacher, where I had the privilege of fostering students’ love of literature and critical thinking. I later served as the English Supervisor for grades 9–12, K–12 English Language Arts Supervisor and now serve as the grades 5–12 ELA and Social Studies Supervisor. I am also very involved in both local and national literacy organizations as a literacy leader and as a lifelong learner. I believe I am an ideal candidate for the School Board because I bring a combination of personal commitment, professional experience, and a genuine dedication to our community’s children and families.

First, I am a listener and a problem-solver. I understand the importance of hearing from parents, teachers, students, and community members, and I value respectful dialogue even when perspectives differ. I am committed to making decisions that put students’ success and well-being first.
The school board’s main responsibilities are to set the vision and policies for our schools, oversee the budget to ensure tax dollars are used wisely, and hire and evaluate the superintendent who manages daily operations. We work, as representatives of the community, to make sure students have strong academic opportunities, teachers have the support they need, and schools remain safe and welcoming. Just as importantly, the board does represent the community so they are duty bound to listen to the concerns of parents, provide staff with appropriate support, and ensure the academic excellence of students. The board makes decisions with accountability and transparency so that every child has the chance to succeed
I believe parents play a vital role in their children’s education, and our schools should always work in partnership with families. Parents deserve transparency about what is being taught, and their voices should be heard and respected in the decision-making process. As answerable to the state, it is also important that our schools provide students with accurate, instructionally sound and age-appropriate materials that prepare them to succeed as students and be competitive on the national and global academic stage .

When it comes to the selection of books and educational materials, I support a balanced approach: one that includes input from parents, educators, and experts, while aligning with state standards. Families should have opportunities to review materials and ask questions, and when appropriate, opt-out policies should be available. Ultimately, our goal should be to equip students with knowledge and skills in a way that reflects both educational best practices and the values of our community.
The first priority is to continue to strengthen academic achievement & early intervention. To achieve this I would work to ensure robust early screening for reading and other foundational skills (PreK-3). I would also look to focus on monitoring data regularly, not just from state tests but diagnostic tools, to identify where students lag and provide targeted supports for those who need them. I would also support professional development for teachers so they have best practices in differentiated instruction, reading instruction, data literacy, etc., so that instruction meets each student's need. The second priority would be to continue to improve communication, engagement and transparency with families and the community by establishing or strengthening parent advisory committees, conduct regular surveys or focus groups with parents to provide clear summaries, early notice of changes, forums or “town halls” where parents can ask questions. The third priority would to to ensure the safety of our schools and students by regularly auditing the safety of our doors, security systems, first responder radios, safety protocols, etc.
A candidate for district superintendent should be fiscally responsible, managing taxpayer dollars wisely, keeping budgets transparent, and ensuring resources go directly toward supporting classrooms. The superintendent should also be committed to academic excellence, prioritizing core academics, setting high standards for all students, and making sure curriculum decisions are grounded in proven, age-appropriate practices that prepare children for the future. Lastly, the superintendent should be a strong communicator with a deep respect for parents and the community. The superintendent should work to keeps families informed, and be in partnership with parents to uphold the values of the district. This means transparency in decision-making and responsiveness when concerns arise. Together, these qualities ensure the superintendent is a trusted partner who keeps student achievement and academic excellence, fiscal accountability, and community trust at the center of every decision.
