The primary responsibility of a School Board is to set the vision and policies that guide the district in providing a high-quality education for all students. This includes hiring and evaluating the superintendent, ensuring fiscal responsibility with taxpayer resources, approving curriculum aligned with state standards, supporting safe and effective school operations, and fostering transparency and communication with families and the community. The Board serves as a bridge between the community and the schools, ensuring that every decision keeps students’ best interests at the forefront.
Leadership and Vision: A strong superintendent must be able to set a clear direction for the district, inspire staff and students, and adapt to challenges while keeping student success as the ultimate goal.
Collaboration and Communication: The superintendent should value transparency and maintain open communication with families, teachers, staff, and the Board to build trust and community support.
Instructional Expertise: A superintendent must have a deep understanding of curriculum, teaching practices, and student needs, ensuring that decisions are evidence-based and focused on academic growth and equity.
Parents are essential partners in their children’s education, and their voices should be respected and valued in decision-making by both teachers and administrative staff. At the same time, schools have a responsibility to provide students with access to well-rounded, age-appropriate, and fact-based educational materials. When it comes to health education or other sensitive curricula, I believe in maintaining transparency with families, offering opportunities for parental input, and following state standards and professional guidelines. Parents should always be informed and have the ability to review materials, while the district ensures that students receive comprehensive, accurate, and inclusive instruction that prepares them for the real world.
My motivation to run comes first and foremost from being a parent of three children—two currently enrolled in Delaware Township School and one who will enter preschool in a few years. I want to ensure that every child in our community has access to the same high-quality education I want for my own family. I also want to ensure that all families have a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.
I bring six years of classroom experience as a paraprofessional and teacher, paired with 13 years of leadership in state government with the Department of Human Services. As a Quality Assurance Coordinator, I oversee two units focused on data analysis, incident reporting, and mortality review—work that requires accountability, critical thinking, and collaboration. In addition, my volunteer roles as Co-Director of Baseball for DTAA and as a longtime NJSIAA wrestling official reflect my deep commitment to youth development and community involvement.
These experiences have given me the skills to lead, listen, and make thoughtful, data-informed decisions. I believe this combination of professional expertise, community service, and personal investment in
Artificial Intelligence is a powerful tool when used responsibly. For staff, AI can support data analysis, streamline administrative tasks, and provide resources for lesson planning, allowing more time to focus on teaching and supporting students, along with providing teachers time for themselves when they are not in the classroom . For students, AI can serve as a supplemental learning tool—helping with research, individualized practice, and skill development. However, it should never replace critical thinking, creativity, or human interaction. Clear guidelines should ensure that AI is used ethically, safeguards student privacy, and complements rather than substitutes the learning process. Ultimately, AI should be integrated in ways that enhance education while preparing students for a world where technology continues to evolve.

Involvement in Community
I am a parent of 3 kids going through the school district, I am on the PiE board, I am a 4-H leader and a small business owner in town.
To me, the School Board of Education’s job is to represent our community while keeping students at the center of every decision. That means setting policy, approving the budget while being fiscally responsible to the school and taxpayers, and hiring and supporting a strong superintendent. Most importantly, it’s about making sure our kids have the best opportunities to learn and grow.
As a parent with children in the school for the next 11 years, I’d look for three key qualities. First, strong leadership. Someone who can guide staff and students with confidence and vision. Second, good communication. Being approachable and willing to listen to parents, teachers, and kids. Ensuring that the parents and community have the information they need to help our students succeed. Third, a student-first mindset. Always focusing decisions on what helps our children succeed both in school and beyond as they grow into productive members of society.
I believe parents are partners in education, and their voices matter. As a parent, I understand wanting to know what our kids are learning. I think schools should provide accurate, age-appropriate, and well-rounded materials that prepare students for the real world. The key is open communication, transparency, and a balanced approach that respects families while keeping education strong.
I'm running for school board because I want to actively make a difference for the students in our district. As a parent of three children, an 8th grader, a 6th grader, and a toddler who will eventually join the school system, I’m deeply invested in the long-term success of our schools. For the past six years, I’ve volunteered as a class parent and have proudly served on the PiE board for the last four years as corresponding secretary. I’m also a local business owner who works directly with children, giving me insight into their needs, challenges, and potential. Education has always been close to my heart as I come from a family of public-school educators, and I value the impact a strong school community can have on a child’s future. I'm running because I believe our students deserve a board that listens, advocates, and takes action. I’m ready to bring my experience, dedication, and perspective as both a parent and community member to the table.
I see AI as a tool, not a replacement for teaching or learning. For students, it can support research and spark creativity, but it should never take the place of their own thinking. For teachers, it can help reduce paperwork and free up time to focus on kids. With clear guidelines and oversight, AI can be used responsibly to enhance learning while still keeping human connection at the heart of education. AI is still such a new technology and it will be changing over the next few years. It is the job of a school board, administration and teachers to teach children to use this tool responsibly and to evolve as the technology evolves.

The Board sets policy, oversees budgets, hires and evaluates the superintendent, and ensures that all students receive a strong, well-rounded education. Its role is to balance the needs of students with the responsible use of community resources.
I would look for integrity, strong communication skills, and a commitment to student success. These qualities ensure the superintendent can lead with trust, foster collaboration, and keep students at the center of all decisions.
Parents are vital partners in education. Their voices should be heard, and materials should reflect age-appropriate, balanced, and educational standards. Open dialogue helps ensure decisions are transparent and respectful of both parents and professional educators.
I am motivated by a desire to give back to the community where I raised my six children. My experience as an educator, coach, and community leader has prepared me to listen, collaborate, and make thoughtful decisions that support both students and taxpayers. I bring a balanced perspective of academic rigor, community values, and fiscal responsibility.
AI should be used as a tool to enhance learning and teaching, not replace it. It can support research, problem-solving, and efficiency while being guided by clear policies that encourage responsible and ethical use. When used wisely, AI can strengthen both teaching practices and student learning opportunities. The Board has already started the process of researching AI policy, and I believe their measured approach and goals are appropriate for a K–8 school.

Focused on Education
Involvement in Community
I have been on the board of education for the past 6 years. I am currently serving as the Policy/Personnel Chair. Furthermore, I am an active coach of soccer and girls softball.
The principal responsibility of a board of education is to serve as the governing body for school district, setting its direction and ensuring its effective operation. Its important to note that a school board should not be involved in the day to day management of schools, but it's important to give the power to the superintendent and administration to make decisions that align with the boards goals. Being fiscally responsible and ensuring ALL students have access to the best education possible is a must. Putting students education and the districts well being first is a priority.
1. Strong Communication Skills
A superintendent is the public face of the district. It is important that he or she is able to share the goals of the district with staff, students, and the community. Being able to listen actively is very important as they will hear concerns and feedback from parents, students, teachers, board members etc. Speaking clearly and effectively will serve a superintendent well.
2. Visionary Leadership
A superintendent is a visionary leader of the local school district. Therefore they must have a vision which includes setting high standards for student achievement, high standards for staff, a collaborative environment for staff, promoting a positive school culture which all have access to the best education possible. A great superintendent is the spokesperson of this vision to the community. A superintendent who inspires the community to work towards the same goals that is aligned with the board does well!
3. Financial Acumen - Since the superintendent is responsible for the financial health of a district, one that understands finance is most likely to succeed.
As a parent of 3, I believe firmly in parental rights within the school system. First and foremost, I pride myself in knowing that I am always listening to the parents within my community. However, there are times that I may say I am representing my own opinion here and not that of the full board. As a board member, it's important to remember that a board drives the ship rather than all the life boats on that ship. What that means its imperative to know when I am being a parent and when I am being a board member. A great board member knows who and when to keep these separate. As a board member, its important that I direct parents to district leadership when I see potential issues.
As far as selection of books, I believe strongly in the freedom of speech. However, a board must always think about age appropriate content . It may be ok to have a book about the human body for a 10 year old but it may be inappropriate to have a book that discusses sexual positions. Each case is unique and needs to be evaluated independently. I do fear that the political landscape has been forcing several people to take tight stands on certain issues. There is no room in education for politics.
I am running for school board because I love my children and I love my community. Our kids are the future!
My experience in the last 6 years has been wonderful. This includes: acting as chair for Policy and Personnel, serving on the Curriculum Infrastructure and Technology committee, keeping kids in school throughout covid, hiring a new superintendent, principal, and special ed supervisor, negotiating with the teachers union regarding teachers contracts, etc.
In my professional life, I have been leading sales and marketing in the pharmaceutical industry for over 20 years. I have learned how to be fiscally responsible, manage and lead large teams, educate consumers and physicians on several scientific breakthroughs, etc. My skillset for running business has helped me in the educational field as it gives me a different viewpoint than staff leadership and other board members.
Artificial Intelligence is here to stay. We are in the process of creating a group that includes teachers, students, and parents to discuss AI. AI is new, and there is still a lot that needs to be determined. AI is only as good as the information that feeds it. So in general we are still determining how to use AI. We know that it needs to be used in education but still determining how to execute this efficiently and safely. Some people are scared to utilize AI. I think this is the wrong approach. Years ago, people first feared the internet in education, but where would we be today without the use of the internet in education? We must adapt, but smartly adapt.

The School Board’s responsibility is to set the vision and priorities for the district, create policies, oversee the budget, and hold the superintendent accountable for carrying them out. Our job is not to micromanage classrooms, but to ensure that students always come first in decision-making. School Board members are elected officials, and with that comes the responsibility to be a voice for the residents of the town. That means listening to concerns, being transparent in decision-making, and making fiscally responsible choices that serve both students and the community.
First, I would look for strong leadership and vision; someone who can unite staff, families, and the community around shared goals for student achievement. Second, integrity and transparency are essential; the superintendent must build trust by being open, honest, and accountable. Finally, educational expertise and innovation matter greatly. The superintendent should understand best practices in teaching and learning, while also being willing to adapt and use new tools to meet students’ changing needs. These qualities together ensure the superintendent can lead with both wisdom and courage.
I believe parents and schools should be partners in a child’s education. Parents are the first educators of their children, and their voices matter. At the same time, schools have a responsibility to provide research-based, age-appropriate curriculum that prepares students for the real world. When it comes to sensitive topics such as health education or reading materials, transparency and communication are key. If a parent is ever uncomfortable with material being taught, they should absolutely have the right to ask for an alternate assignment for their child. This approach respects parental choice while maintaining access to high-quality educational resources for all students.
As both a teacher and a parent, I have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within our schools. I have spent my career working with students who face learning differences, which has given me a strong perspective on what supports are needed to help every child succeed. I am collaborative, approachable, and student-centered, and I believe in listening to all voices before making decisions. I am motivated to run because I want to ensure that every student in our district, regardless of background or ability, has access to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive. As an elected School Board member, I would also take seriously the responsibility to serve as a voice for the residents of our town. That means bringing community concerns to the table, being transparent, and always keeping students’ best interests at the center of decision-making.
AI is a powerful tool that, when used responsibly, can enhance both teaching and learning. For staff, it can streamline planning, improve communication, and provide helpful data insights. For students, it can support research, brainstorming, and personalized learning. Importantly, AI can be especially beneficial for students with learning disabilities. For example, text-to-speech and speech-to-text tools can make reading and writing more accessible, AI tutors can break down complex math problems step by step, and organization tools can help students manage tasks and deadlines. AI can also simplify and break down difficult content, allowing students to access the text in a more meaningful way and engage with the same material as their peers. These supports allow students to access grade-level material and demonstrate their knowledge more confidently. At the same time, AI should never replace critical thinking or creativity. Our responsibility is to guide students in using it ethically, safely, and thoughtfully.
