Involvement in Community I have been deeply involved in the community, as a proud marching band mom and active volunteer with the Band Parents Association, Orchestra Parent Group, Hunterdon Central’s Parent Engagement Committee, and J.P. Case PTO.
Adopt, abolish, review, and revise district policy in accordance with requirements.

Conduct annual performance review of Superintendent. Hire Superintendent when needed. Work with Superintendent on district and Board goals. Work with Business Administrator to oversee and approve annual budget; engage in contract negotiations.

Prepare for and attend Board meetings as active, engaged, and thoughtful participants. Make informed decisions, and vote on operational matters (e.g., financial expenditures, personnel, curriculum) as school leadership recommends, as well as policy. Serve on committees. Function as liaison between the district and the larger community. Ensure the school is run effectively and efficiently, without micromanaging or overseeing daily operations.

Represent the greater population of the sending districts. Serve in the best interest of all students. Act ethically, with integrity and honesty. Work together as a team.
STRONG LEADER. Ability to listen, to both sides. Rational, factual decision maker. Positive. Effective communicator. Honest, trustworthy. Support public education. Trust and empower staff.

COMPASSIONATE. Accessible to students and parents, and enjoy working together. Involved in the school community. Warm and approachable.

COLLABORATIVE. Partner with students, families, and sending districts. Welcome feedback, particularly from students and staff.
I believe parents have rights as to what is acceptable and best for their child and their family. Each family is different and this will vary greatly between families. For example, if there is a book I deem not age appropriate or heavy subject matter for my child, I will not impose that opinion on another family and take away the opportunity for them to make their own decision for their own child.

Parents have more access to information from schools than ever before. Engaged parents help ensure student success. Students have a freedom to learn and pursue their dreams, and a right to an accurate and comprehensive education. I encourage young people to be their authentic selves, and equipping the district with resources necessary for a high quality education that will produce critical thinkers prepared for life after high school.
My husband and I moved to Raritan Twp in 2012 so our children could one day attend HCRHS (they are now a senior and freshman). I volunteer in the schools, and have attended BOE meetings for over three years. Recently I have become concerned with diminishing Board transparency, and short sighted, irresponsible decisions that open the district to liability and increased costs. I believe in public education, trust our teachers, support our Superintendent, and would serve in the best interest of all students.

Skills from my professional experience in consulting include relationship cultivation, contract and policy review, and cost analysis. I am competent in technical writing, preparation of bid specs and proposals, and data evaluation and management.

I have strong interpersonal skills, effective communication and presentation abilities, work well under pressure, and equally well in a team or independently. I am organized, detail oriented, and hold a high degree of commitment to my work.
When used responsibly and ethically, AI is a tool that may be utilized for efficiencies, to increase productivity in the classroom, promote collaboration, as an assistive learning tool to deepen understanding, and to enhance research, peer revision, resources, models, simulations, and activities. Students and teachers must still put in original work, creativity, and critical thinking, maintaining curiosity and questioning. Each individual voice is important to preserve, but AI has a place to enrich the experience of students and staff alike.

Teachers can use AI to more effectively assess student progress and further customize learning for individual students, allowing focus on the most impactful priorities. Staff can use AI to better indicate where students need additional help, and evaluate feedback from the school community. Students in world language classes can use AI to practice conversing and improve vocabulary and grammar.

Involvement in Community I am a proud sustaining member of Flemington DIY for the past several years. When my child was younger, I volunteered extensively at my child's school. I’ve previously volunteered with Catholic Charities pre-school and housing offices.
Accountability for student achievement and goals. Establish clear and fair policies, as well as oversight of the implementation of such. Oversight of the Superintendent to ensure goals are being met. Approval of budget items and serve as a bridge to parents and the community .
1. Belief in evidence-based learning 2. Fairness when balancing the needs of students, staff, parents and the community. 3. Ability to establish and implement a clear vision with the best interests of the students, parents and community overall.
I truly believe that parental rights should be balanced with the best interest of the students. I believe parents have the right to oversee their child's education while keeping fact based learning a priority to ensure educated and prepared young adults.
I am running for school board to bring balance back to my district. I would like to see every single student thrive and flourish into a productive citizen.

My compassion drives me to see that the needs of the entire school community are addressed. I believe that Hunterdon Central will serve the community better with more input from all stakeholders. I want our community to feel that the board is accessible and that we can create a dialogue that will only serve to strengthen our school and everyone's future.
Used responsibly AI can be implemented as another form of research. I would not consider it primary research but used as a tool it can be beyond helpful. I also believe that the use of AI can only strengthen critical thinking by analyzing facts and using other sources to prove or disprove veracity.

Involvement in Community My community involvement includes former co-chair of the Education Committee of the Hunterdon County NAACP - awarding scholarships to Central students, and serving on the national board of Family Promise as Chair of its Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Committee. I’ve also coached baseball and basketball in our local recreation leagues.
School board members are responsible for representing the needs of citizens, taxpayers and parents to the school administration while simultaneously representing the needs of the students and school district to the community, parents and taxpayers. In addition, the board sets policies, goals and objectives for the district, holding its superintendent responsible for implementing the policies and achieving the goals.
Effective and results driven leader – A good leader inspires others to be creative and imaginative; embracing the differences at the table to achieve the goals of the team. An effective leader welcomes and values the input of all team members. in addition to measuring the impact on student wellbeing and success. Critical Thinker – One who is able to think beyond their point of view and genuinely engage others perspectives. Critical thinkers not only ask thought provoking questions of others, while challenging one’s own opinions. Critical thinkers reserve judgment on an issue until they have contemplated the many viewpoints on a matter. Critical thinkers are not quick to decide, but rather reflective and measured. Experience with creating and overseeing multi-million dollar budgets – In many municipalities, the school board is the largest share of taxpayer dollars. Therefore, a competent superintendent must be capable of creating and executing a responsible budget that meets the needs of students and staff in a cost effective manner.
Parents should and do have the right to engage the school in their child’s education. My wife and I frequently monitored and engaged our son’s educational pursuits at Central. We attended all back to school nights and each semester worked with him (in conjunction with faculty input) to develop his class schedule. This is the current right of every parent. However, one parent’s right should not be allowed to infringe upon another’s. If a parent desires that their child is not to read a particular book because of their beliefs or values, then they should have the recourse to choose a different piece of literature (with teacher input) that is suitable for the assignment or class. That parent, should not be able to dictate what another parent deems is suitable for their child to read, thus taking away the right of the other parent to choose what is acceptable for their child. The objective of every parent for their child’s education should be the development of well-rounded students who can be positive contributors to society.
My wife and I, as 20 yr residents of Raritan Township and the parents of a student who had the full experience of matriculating through the district whose accomplishments included National Honor Society, Red Devil Ambassador and captain of the state champion golf team, lead to my involvement with the district on many levels. This included attending board meetings and interacting with other parents around multiple aspects of student life and education. Having observed and participated in the process externally I now feel compelled to be more involved utilizing my professional and personal experiences in planning, budgeting, analytical and critical thinking as a corporate manager and faith leader. In addition, I would be providing a voice and perspective from a seldom heard community within the district, all of which will be a benefit to the effective operation of the board.
Whenever new technology is introduced, there is always hesitance before it is accepted (i.e. calculators). However, it should always be used as a tool to facilitate learning where it does not inhibit critical thinking and creativity. Thus, appropriate guidelines must be developed to ensure students use AI responsibly and not rely on AI as a replacement for their academic efforts.
