What prompted me to run for office is my deep love for this community and my desire to see it grow in a way that benefits everyone. I’ve seen the challenges our city faces, but I’ve also seen the potential we have when people come together. I want to be a voice for everyday residents, to make sure their concerns are heard, and to work hard on solutions that improve quality of life for all of us. Running for city council is my way of giving back and helping to build a stronger, more connected West Columbia.
Rapid growth can bring a lot of opportunities, but it can also create challenges if it isn’t managed carefully. I believe the key is balance. We need to welcome new businesses and residents while making sure that longtime community members aren’t pushed aside. For me, that means listening to residents about their concerns, supporting smart development that respects the character of our neighborhoods, and making sure infrastructure—like roads, housing, and public services—keeps up with growth. My goal is to make sure growth benefits everyone, not just a few, so that West Columbia continues to be a place we’re all proud to call home.
I believe the best way to encourage civic involvement is by making people feel that their voices truly matter. That starts with more transparency, open communication, and creating spaces where residents feel welcomed to share their ideas and concerns. I would work to increase community forums, use social media and neighborhood meetings to keep people informed, and make sure residents know how their input is being used in decision-making. When people see real results from their participation, they’re more likely to stay engaged. My goal is to build a culture in West Columbia where everyone feels like they have a seat at the table.
In addition to managing growth and encouraging civic involvement, my priorities include improving public safety, supporting small businesses, and investing in our neighborhoods. I want to make sure our roads, parks, and public spaces are well-maintained and accessible for everyone. I also believe in strengthening partnerships with schools and local organizations to provide opportunities for our young people. Above all, my priority is making sure every resident feels valued and has a voice in shaping the future of West Columbia.
