We have our roots planted here and are raising our daughter in this town. I want this town to be just as admirable to her when she grows up as it was to my wife and I when we decided to move here. Also, there are some of the same issues that have been hanging around over the past few elections and I would like to be a part of working together with other council members to bring them to the forefront and get some results.
First and foremost I would make sure that the whole council works together as a team to come up with the best solution for the town. Also, push for SCDOT to work with council in joint sessions to address the on going issues and be a part of correcting the issues with flooding and drainage.
I would involve as many of the towns people in discussing the needs of public transportation through open to the public meetings and just going around talking with as many people as possible. We as a council would have to work with one another in finding out what best suits our town for this issue.
I would like to see the council discuss our zoning laws and possibly scale down the amount of units per acre that are allowed in our current residential zoning laws. I also think that the presentation of our two downtown areas should be discussed concerning the empty buildings and how they are kept up when not in use for an open business.

I have chosen to run for town council because of my love for this town, which has given me so much over the past fifty years, it has inspired me to give back to its citizens.

I would be honored to serve and to demonstrate to the younger generations the incredible opportunities our town offers and what amazing things we can achieve when we work together.
I would like to propose a community-focused approach to address local concerns. My initial step would be to meet with citizens to identify all areas of concern within our community.

Once these problems are identified, we would prioritize them, creating a comprehensive plan to address issues ranging from immediate needs to moderate concerns. This plan would also clarify which issues can be resolved through DOT work orders and which require town involvement.

For more serious issues, I suggest forming a committee comprising the Town Manager, members of the Council, and DOT Engineers to develop and implement solutions.
I believe The Comet was an excellent transportation option for residents of Batesburg-Leesville, providing valuable service to the greater Lexington and Columbia area. It offered a very budget-friendly solution and had the potential to operate multiple times a day.
I believe it is crucial for the Town Council to collaborate with the County Council and the Planning Committee to establish more restrictive requirements for builders. Specifically, I recommend reducing the number of homes allowed per acre and implementing stricter separation requirements between properties.

Furthermore, I urge that every aspect of our existing infrastructure be thoroughly reviewed and addressed before any new subdivisions are approved. This proactive approach will ensure our community can sustainably support future growth.

Finally, to foster the long-term vitality of Batesburg-Leesville, we must invest in our youth and create job opportunities that encourage younger generations to remain and thrive in our community.
