I have served the City Simpsonville for the last 4 years as a Councilman.
1. To oversee the new streetscape project downtown to help with our traffic issues at Curtis and College Streets.
2. To make sure taxes are not raised and spending is monitored closely during these projects.
3. To address the flooding and water runoff issues many are having to deal with in the city.
First of all, I voted down most all of the developments that came before Council during my term. Most of them were proposed in an already overcrowded area, and would’ve only added to the problem. Secondly, for future developments, I am for passing impact fees. It should not be up to the current residents of the city to have to spend their hard earned money on helping with infrastructure issues with new developments. It should be the developers paying these things. Too many times developers come and go and leave all of the problems they created on the tax payers. It’s time this changes!
A city council’s role in regards to affordable housing is to help those that are less fortunate than others with zoning reforms, or to provide certain tax subsidies, or Section 8 rental options, as well as working along side organizations like the Greenville Housing Authorities.
