Too often, communication from elected officials is limited to celebrating successes. Suffolk residents are often unaware of important county issues that would affect them. How would you better communicate and educate them on issues and seek their input?

Making sure that there are separate application processes and incentives for volunteer first responders to have affordable housing. After all, they should be living in the same communities they serve with dignity and dedication. There are many different ideas for affordable housing in areas throughout Long Island and they should all be discussed meaningfully and deliberately.
The Suffolk County Water Authority has taken a key role in ensuring that PFAs is no longer in our drinkingg water, while at the same time relying on a single-source aquifer. The best way in which the County can ensure residents and businesses follow the law is by allowing the County's messaging to filter through legislative offices and elected officials clearly and efficiently.
Ensure that every single resident -- new or old -- in a particular constituency gets a welcome letter from the Legislator as well as two newsletters every year. These folks should also be encouraged to reach out to their elected officials for whatever needs they may have at the county level.
The County should pick up where the federal government has fallen, specifically for Medicare, Medicaid and other essential service cuts.
Immigration is a central issue affecting the Ninth Legislative District, especially in a district that is 75% Latino and a significant portion of that population being undocumented. Suffolk County Police does not collaborate with ICE - and with that said strong relationships between Latino residents and law enforcement are invaluable in bringing crime to an all time low in the Ninth LD. Another central issue is the affordability crisis in the County, hitting home in the Ninth LD. In a County with someone of the most expensive zip codes there are people in my constituency that are counting change to buy a chicken and broccoli with white rice. A solution to this crisis would be a construction of more affordable and workforce housing, especially with volunteer first responders living in the communities they serve with dignity and respect.
