My background is in education at the collegiate level. After teaching for 20 years, I moved to administration. I believe with my 15 years as a college administrator, at the program, dean and senior administration level, I have the skills and background to serve on the Norris Town Council.
The most recent action I have observed was the support of our local fire department. The town council provides the needed financial support for our fire department. Teh action was for the purchase of needed materials and vehicle maintenance. I fully support those actions.
The new housing in our area is largely from surrounding municipalities. I believe our town would be resistant to new developments and I would support that stand. If new housing were to be approved, we would need to work with developers to fund initial expansions. With the Easley Central Water District located in our area, we would definitely need to work with them to anticipate expenses.
The main area I would address is communication. The town of Norris is small and rural. The residents are widely dispersed. I think communication via websites, emails or regular, in-person office hours would help residents connect with our town.
