The Township of Lebanon is governed by a five member Township Committee consisting of township residents elected for three year terms. The committee organizes annually during the first week in January, at which time it elects a Mayor and Deputy Mayor from among its members. The Mayor presides at meetings of the Township Committee and performs such other duties as the Township Committee may prescribe. In the absence or disability of the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor acts as Mayor. In addition to the Township Committee, a number of boards, commissions, and committees, comprised of township residents, are established. Members are appointed by the Mayor at the annual reorganization meeting or during the year as vacancies become available. Members of these boards, commissions, and committees serve as volunteers.

"WORKING TO PRESERVE OUR QUALITY OF LIFE"
Involvement in Community
47 year resident, founder, President, and legal counsel for Save Lebanon Township Coalition
The political and economic forces at work in New Jersey will make it increasingly difficult to preserve the environment and quality of life we enjoy in Lebanon Township. The most challenging aspects of preserving our quality of life will come in the form of proposed industrial, commercial, and residential land use developments and state mandated housing programs. I do not want to see our bucolic, small town environment become part of New Jersey’s suburban sprawl. As a 47-year Township resident and retired lawyer, I have the local knowledge, professional experience, and time to devote myself to the task of preserving the wonderful Township we call home.
If elected, I will focus on strengthening our local zoning and planning code, improving the current process and procedures for interpreting and enforcing that code, and establishing reporting responsibilities to assure that the Township’s duly established zoning and planning objectives are fully carried out. Aside from this particular area of focus, I will work with my fellow Committee members to assure that the municipal services necessary to preserving a safe environment (i.e., police, fire, and road departments) are maintained. I will actively participate in the annual budgeting process to minimize municipal tax increases while insisting that any significant reductions in services are made based on sound analysis after public input.
The principal responsibilities of a member of the Township Committee are to: (1) Act at all times in accordance with the law and Township ordinances to further and protect the best interests of the Township and its residents.
(2) Devote the time required to understand all issues that come before the Committee for consideration and seek input from all available sources.
(3) Spend taxpayers’ money as judiciously as possible, only after considering how to spend less rather than more.
(4) Use best efforts to protect the health and safety of residents and preserve the quality of life that exists in the Township.
Local law enforcement should cooperate with the law enforcement activities of all federal law enforcement agencies – FBI, DEA, ATF, USMS, CBP, and ICE. To do otherwise may put the lives and safety of federal agents at risk, not to mention the safety of local residents who may be in the area when a federal agent is attempting to serve, question, or apprehend someone who may have violated federal law.
