Mercer County Commissioner {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

A county commissioner is an elected, part-time legislator at the county level of government. The seven members of the Mercer County Board of County Commissioners are elected at-large to three-year, staggered terms. State statutes determine the number of commissioners based on county classification and population.The Board of County Commissioners acts to formulate policy and to provide a check on the powers of the County Executive. It approves all county contracts and gives advice and consent to the County Executive’s appointments of department heads and members of boards and commissions. After receiving the proposed county budget from the County Executive each year, it is the duty of the Board of Commissioners to thoroughly review, make appropriate changes, and then vote on the budget.

I am running for reelection to continue working to ensure our County continues to provide the highest level of service to our residents. Make no mistake, investing in our communities and our residents is a top priority of mine, from supporting and prioritizing education, to making infrastructure investments like road repairs and replacement of bridges throughout towns in Mercer County, or most importantly, providing millions of dollars in grants and funding for various social “lifeline” programs to help the most underserved and vulnerable members of our community. Investing in our communities, our parks, our residents, and our children is an investment in our future. I will continue to advocate funding these investments, and I have proven we can do it responsibly without negatively impacting our budget!
The upcoming budget must continue to fund the investment in infrastructure to help grow and maintain job creation in the region and fully fund our social “lifeline” programs to help the most underserved and vulnerable members of our community.
That is a function of the federal government, and County Commissioners have no authority or jurisdiction.
I have continued to support the County set-aside program in contracting for minority owened businesses looking to do business with Mercer County. I have and will continue supporting the creation and funding of advisory boards with members who represent historically underrepresented residents to provide input on policy decisions.
Information via our website and social channels must be coordinated with the County government and the public information office to continue to provide information about programs, meetings, and services to keep the public informed.
Working every day to maintain the level of service and programs, while keeping Mercer County affordable for our residents. We need to continue to focus on finding innovative funding and grants to ease the burden on our residents.
