The most important issues facing the municipality is cost of living, housing, and traffic & pedestrian safety.

The cost of living is incredibly expensive and the average resident is concerned if they will be able to simply pay their bills. Life is becoming increasingly difficult because of the cost of basic essentials like groceries & utilities that continue to rise.

Home prices are extremely high making it impossible for many to buy or even rent. Therefore responsible spending & keeping taxes as low as possible is a priority.

Traffic & pedestrian safety is a major concern throughout the Village. Completing a traffic & pedestrian study this year will hopefully help aid in our approval for grants in order to make much needed traffic & pedestrian safety improvements such as adding crosswalks, traffic signals, possibly sidewalks & among other improvements.

Protecting residential zones and parks from incompatible commercial uses. Keeping taxes stable so seniors can afford to stay in their homes. Protection of our drinking water, Byram Lake Reservoir, and the Leonard Park wells. Pedestrian and traffic safety. Responsible development that would prioritize work force housing. Adequately addressing the homeless issue including alcoholism and mental health issues…appealing to County government for assistance with this.
