Describe your one or two most pressing issues for the 2026 legislative session. What legislation would you propose or support to address these issues?

What future do you imagine for Mississippi? How will you help bring us there?

What will you do to encourage college graduates to stay in Mississippi?

Two of the most pressing issues I would focus on are economic development and education equality.

First, Mississippi needs stronger pathways to jobs, especially in rural and underserved communities. I would support legislation that expands workforce development, invests in small businesses, and creates incentives for companies to hire local talent. I would also propose targeted programs to help Minority-owned businesses and entrepreneurs access capital and state contracts.

Second, we must address education funding and quality. I would support legislation that fully funds public schools, protects honest history, and expands career and technical education starting in middle and high school. I'd also work to create more opportunities for Pre-K in rural communities working with successful daycares in those areas. Mississippi’s future depends on preparing our students for modern jobs and making sure all schools, regardless of zip code have the resources they need.
I see a future where Mississippi is no longer last on the good lists, and first on the bad ones. I want to help build a Mississippi where my daughter one day won’t feel like she has to leave to find opportunity. I dream a state where our kids can grow up, build careers, and raise families right here at home.

I imagine a Mississippi where hard work is truly rewarded, where small towns are growing, schools are thriving, and people feel safe and supported in their communities.

To help get us there, I plan to listen first, lead with integrity, and push for policies that open doors, not close them. I’ll work hard to bring resources back to our communities and make sure state government is focused on people, processes, and production not just politics.

We lose too many of our best and brightest because they don’t see enough opportunity here at home. Being born and raised in Aberdeen, MS I am too familiar with trying to "get out". To keep college graduates in Mississippi, we have to build a place where they can grow their careers, start businesses, and feel like they’re part of something bigger.

I would push for stronger partnerships between colleges and local/regional businesses to create direct job pipelines and paid internships that lead to real careers right here at home. I would also support incentives for young entrepreneurs, like start-up grants and entry level tax breaks, to help them build and stay here.

More than anything, we have to invest in communities that young people actually want to live in. Cities with good schools, affordable housing, and vibrant local economies. I want Mississippi to be a place where graduates don’t just find jobs, they find a future.
