There have been actual and proposed Federal funding cutbacks in many areas including state and local grants. How would you, as Town Supervisor, hear Town residents’ concerns and give an example of how to assist them?
What is your plan to support and grow small businesses across all Smithtown communities? What communities in Suffolk do you feel have created a model for a more vibrant downtown and how can Smithtown learn from them and adapt their successful strategies?
Young people cannot find affordable homes in Smithtown, and seniors are having great difficulty affording the costs of maintaining their homes
a) Would you support a review of possible mixed development that might benefit businesses and potential homeowners/renters who have differing ranges of annual income?
b) What is your plan for Accessory Dwelling Units or similar ways for seniors to stay in their homes and for young people to rent their first apartment locally?
The challenge of mitigating and adapting to a changing climate is one of the greatest environmental challenges facing Long Island. What plans do you have to improve our resiliency against sea level rise, flooding, increasingly intense storms, and other aspects of climate change that affect our communities?
Name two critical issues facing Smithtown. How could you address these issues?
The United States of America is running an unsustainable national debt, to this point we have not seen what cuts of occurred, but we will do whatever is necessary to ensure that the Town services will be held to the highest standards given the budget we are given.
Revitalization of the downtowns is of the upmost importance. However, overdevelopment of high density apartment buildings is not the answer. We have 117,000 residence living in the Town Of Smithtown, if we fix up our downtown provide out of the parking, safe, pedestrian walkways, great lighting, those people will come to our downtown and frequent businesses.
Absolutely, given some of the large parcels of property in the Town Of Smithtown I would not be against accessory dwellings as a way for seniors and young people to stay local.
There’s not a lot of town Supervisor can do to prevent climate change, except for mitigation improvements to our low line areas.
Deteriorating downtown, and the disappearance of open space is a great concern. I think both of these can be addressed properly with proper management and a steady funding source.
