The City Council is the legislative body for the City. The Council adopts local laws (ordinances) to secure the safety and assist the well-being of the city residents, the city's physical environment and amenities, and the city economy. The Council is responsible for approving financial expenditures and adopting the city budget as well as establishing policies and regulations in order to guide the city's future. The elected mayor serves as chief administrative officer for the city.

This issue needs to be addressed. Currently we are underway with updating our zoning district as mandated by State which allows the Developmemt of different style apartment's, condos, small homes etc...
Keep it small a rural city a great place for families to come here and feel safe and welcome and a strong economic community and school district

Chewelah is an awesome place to live, and I want to keep it that way. We're a small, walkable town with a charming, compact footprint, surrounded by nature. We're a focus for area activities. We have great opportunities to get involved, get to know each other, and welcome visitors.
