I bring decades of leadership in criminal justice and public administration, recently serving as Community Corrections Division Director in King County—managing complex operations, budgets, and teams. This has honed my skills in collaboration, accountability, and inclusive decision-making.
I bring decades of leadership in criminal justice and public administration, recently serving as Community Corrections Division Director in King County—managing complex operations, budgets, and teams. This has honed my skills in collaboration, accountability, and inclusive decision-making.
I’ve served on the Federal Way Civil Service Commission, helped guide local hiring and promotions for public safety staff, and led community engagement forums on everything from redistricting to running for office. I’ve partnered with nonprofits, faith groups, and government agencies to support census outreach, voter registration, and equity initiatives.
I’ve seen firsthand the disconnect between policy and public impact. I’m running to bring vision, integrity, and equitable leadership, ensuring that our government truly serves every resident.
Public safety with trust and prevention
Affordable, equitable housing amid growth
Under-resourced community services—especially for seniors, youth, and small businesses
As Mayor, I’ll prioritize public safety that builds trust by partnering with police and community groups to support violence prevention, behavioral health response, and accountability through transparency and training. I’ll push for housing that meets the needs of all this includes supporting affordable options, homeownership pathways, and smart growth tied to infrastructure and green space. I’ll also work to streamline permitting for responsible development. Our city thrives when services are accessible and equitable. I’ll expand support for nonprofits, seniors, youth, and immigrant families, and improve public transit and coordination across city departments. These actions ensuring every resident can access the resources they need.

Mayor of Federal Way, 2013-present. Federal Way City Council, 2004-2013. King County Prosecutor's Office, 1998-2013 (Senior Deputy Prosecutor, 2007-2013). President, KIng County Prosecutors Union, 2005-2007.
My life experience has always been focused on being an advocate to get things done. This began with being involved with student government in high school and college as well as being a legislative aide for a Washington State Senator before I began law school. I decided that learning about the law and becoming an attorney would provide more knowledge for advocacy. My service as a member of the city council and now Mayor has helped fulfill my passion for being a voice and advocate for the greater good of our community.

As a long-time resident of Federal Way, I believe that the residents of this city need to have an advocate to listen to concerns and strive to make where we live a great place to live, work and play. As a city council member, it became obvious that the city needed an elected Mayor for our government that would be more accountable and provide results to make our community the best it can be. Along with other residents, in 2009, I led the initiative to create the position of a “strong mayor” position and the voters agreed.
I am running to continue the work and mission as mayor over the last 11 years. We have accomplished much and am running to continue this work. My campaign is focused on the following issues: Public Safety is my top priority. Second, we are bringing living wage jobs to our community and supporting local businesses. Third, is wise fiscal management. We have balanced budgets every year with no new taxes.
We have made Federal Way safer. In the past year, crime is down; with car thefts reduced by 52%, robberies by 38%, and homicides by 58%. We have added more officers than ever before and created Special Operations & Investigations Units to combat crime effectively. Our city is thriving with new opportunities, and we have attracted major businesses like Pape Kenworth, Smith Brothers Dairy, All City Fence and more, creating jobs and boosting our local economy. By revitalizing downtown and supporting businesses, we are building a stronger community for everyone. We have balanced budgets every year with no new taxes. Through strategic investments, we have generated $4 million per year from treasury notes, funding vital projects while maintaining financial stability. This approach ensures we meet today’s needs while panning responsibly for tomorrow. Smart planning, no new taxes and fiscal accountability has made our city’s future secure. Thanks for your consideration.

Elected to City Council in November 2011. Served as Deputy Mayor for 6 years. Served on the Finance, Economic Development and Regional Affairs Committee, Land Use and Transportation Committee and Chair of Parks, Recreation, Human Services, and Public Safety Committee.
Serving on the Federal Way City Council since 2012 and having served 6 years as Deputy Mayor, I have built strong relationships across our community and understand how to navigate city government effectively.
My background as a nurse taught me to listen, solve problems, and advocate for those without a voice.
I have worked on public safety, human services, transportation and budgeting, critical areas that impact residents daily. I have also served on local, regional, state and federal boards which has given me insight on how to bring resources back to Federal Way.
I have over a decade of service on the Federal Way City Council serving as Deputy Mayor for 6 of those years.
Before that I served on the Arts and Diversity Commissions serving as Chair of both those commissions.
Before I became involved in the City of Federal Way I was a volunteer for the Federal Way Public Schools as well as involvement in the PTA, Scouts, sports groups and other organizations in our community.
I have consistently worked to make city government more transparent, responsive and inclusive. My work has focused on improving public safety, expanding support for seniors, youth and families, and ensuring equitable access to city services for all residents.
I am running for mayor because Federal Way needs a leader who will listen, bring people together, and restore trust in local government. Our city is at a crossroads. Residents are concerned about crime, homelessness, and a lack of transparency. I believe we can address these issues by leading with integrity, honesty, focusing on results, and building a city government that works for everyone. My goal is to make Federal Way a safe, welcoming and thriving community for all those that call it home.
Federal Way faces serious concerns about public safety, homelessness and economic development. Residents do not feel safe in their neighborhoods. Many people are struggling to afford housing, and homelessness is visible in all parts of the city. At the same time we need to attract more jobs and business activity to create a vibrant and sustainable local government. These challenges are connected and must be addressed with practical, compassionate, and community focused leadership.
I will work to fully staff our police department and invest in community based public safety programs that build trust and prevent crime.
I will support efforts to provide shelter, treatment, and housing to reduce homelessness at the same time enforcing laws that protect public spaces.
To support our economy, I will streamline permitting, support small businesses, and partner with the Chamber of Commerce and school district to prepare residents for quality jobs.
As your Mayor, I will focus on solutions that serve everyone.
My door will always be open to talk with and work with everyone in our City.
