City council members are responsible for overseeing the departments, such as the police department, fire department, and public works department. They are responsible for approving the city budget. They are also responsible for passing ordinances and overseeing their implementation. They may hold public hearings on important issues facing the city. City council members work with the mayor, who is the chief executive officer of the city, to make decisions about the city. They serve a 2 year term.

As a CPA and former business owner with over 25 years' experience I have a strong background in accounting, finance and management. I have a strong track record of activism in Troy to protect democracy and voting rights, and I've testified before Attorney General James to keep Burdett Birth Center open.

I've been a business owner with a strong background in accounting and finance. I've lived in Troy for the past 13 years and have been active in the community to protect democracy and voting rights. I was instrumental in putting a coalition together to bring early voting to Troy to give equal access to minorities and low income voters living in the downtown area. I also testified before Attorney General Letitia James last year to keep the Burdett Birth Center open. I have spoken at City Council meetings on various topics relating to the management of the City government most recently to express my concerns about the City's inability to issue quarterly financial reports, and to question the proposed acquisition of Proctor's Theatre as Troy's new city hall. There are many questions that remain unanswered as the City rapidly moves forward with its plan, not the lease of which concerns the finances and project costs that the taxpayers will be burdened with for the next 20 years.
1. I will address our need for more quality affordable housing by ensuring that code enforcement does their job to make sure the many neglected properties in my district are safe and well maintained. I will encourage developers to build quality housing and I will support the Good Cause law to make sure that people who live here don't lose their homes without good reason.
2. I will make sure that we are not spending beyond our means and provide sound checks to ensure fiscal transparency and accountability.
3. I will make sure that lead pipes are replaced.
4. I will address the quality of life issues that affect all of us: safe streets, pan handling, homelessness, and drug trafficking. We know where the hotspots are downtown and we need to address them so that we all can enjoy living in this wonderful city.
Communication with folks living in my district is important to me and I will continue to issue the monthly newsletter, I will set up office hours once a month to meet with constituents at a downtown eatery, and I want to set up meetings for those living in Troy housing and other apartment bldgs., particularly for the elderly, on a quarterly basis.
