1. A lack of affordability on everything from housing to child care to groceries and utilities. Families need help and we need to elect leaders who can solve these problems. 2. Public safety. Many types of crime are up, too many of our children are victims of gun violence, and our seniors and families do not feel safe on our streets or subways. 3. Quality of life. From overflowing trash bins to neglected parks, too many Bronx neighborhoods are left behind.
Affordability: I have already delivered over 10,000 units of deeply affordable housing and ended expensive broker fees. As Borough President, I’ll push for more truly affordable homes while holding developers accountable and keeping rents in check. Safety: No family should feel unsafe on their own block. As Borough President, I will fight to expand NYPD Argus cameras, improve lighting in our parks, bridges, and transit hubs, and crack down on illegal dumping, graffiti, and car theft. Public safety and community pride go hand in hand Better quality of life: We need to increase parks maintenance, boost sanitation services, and ensure every neighborhood gets the services it deserves
1. Make the Bronx safer. 2. Create a plan to build more affordable housing. 3. Improve services to improve our quality of life.
Create 100,000 units of truly affordable housing in the Bronx for our families, seniors, veterans, and the homeless.
As City Council Land Use Chair I know how to stand up to developers and get 100% affordable housing built. We ended expensive broker fees and created a set-aside for the homeless in new affordable housing developments. I can accomplish these ambitious goals. I've done it as Councilmember and will do even more as Bronx Borough President.
