I am a native of Detroit graduating for Central HS in 1978. I am an active precinct delegate and has been an active community activist since 2005 under the training of the Honorable John Conyers Jr. I am an educator holding a Masters in Sociology: School, Society, & Violence and African American Studies. It is time for a change, and I come with 21st century academia knowledge as well as the voice of the people. As an educator I have observed the Detroit Public School system continually violate our youths' civil rights to have a basic education. The community is in need of revitalization, and I have boots on the ground.
1st. I will hold independent public schools accountable to Detroit City Council including the hiring of teachers in the urban community.
2nd. I will work with the business community providing resources to make the process not so complicated.
3rd. The Detroit Impound is robbing our citizens who have been victims of vehicle theft. Victims are customers not the criminals. The process needs to be reevaluated.
I am very disappointed with the current seat holders who I know personally. I am still waiting for a return call from both current seat holders. Due to me being a Republican I get no assistance from District 1 nor At-Large seat holders for my community as homeowners and taxpayers in 48223 & 48219.

In Progress
I am running for reelection to Council to continue fighting hard for seniors, veterans, parents, and children, standing up for our community over special interests. I brought nearly $1 billion in affordable housing to Detroit, secured $300 million for housing improvements, I led the creation of the City’s first-ever Tenant’s Rights Commission to advocate for renters and established the first Veterans Affairs division in the City of Detroit. I will continue to fight for our community by bringing money to our neighborhoods, improving housing, and connecting Detroiters to jobs.
Detroiters want to continue the great progress our city has made, and I am running to make Detroiters’ lives better by:
Improving housing quality, holding the Land Bank accountable by converting it to a community land trust, and building more truly affordable housing
Maintain investment in our neighborhoods through programs like home repair grants and loans
Help Detroiters get jobs and training opportunities through programs like the Skilled Trades Task Force and the Jumpstart program I created
