I support all of these amendments. Women need to be able to make their own healthcare decisions with their medical provider, without the hand of the government in Richmond telling any woman what she should do with her body. These are personal healthcare decisions, whether itβs abortion care, access to contraception or access to fertility treatments.
The United States Supreme Court determined a decade ago that a ban on same sex marriage is null and void. We need to bring our Virginia Constitution up to date so it reflects the national law of the land.
Right now, after an ex-offender has served their punishment and is a productive member of their community, to get their rights back is a long drawn out arbitrary process. The governor makes
For our economy to thrive, we need good paying jobs and for businesses to come here and offer those jobs. We need strong public schools where every child has the chance to graduate and are ready for a good job or for higher education. Special needs education is underfunded; we need to make sure to provide the resources every child needs to succeed. To make that happen our public schools need to be fully funded with modern, safe facilities and up to date technology (needed to thrive in the 21st century world) and provide our teachers with livable salaries for them to continue teaching our students.
Education - there are few schools in the area but we need to ensure that they are fully funded, ensure our teachers are being paid a livable wage, and students have all the resources needed to thrive.
Reproductive Freedoms - access to abortions, contraception, and fertility treatments are under attack, and people should have access to quality care without undue interference from the government.
Economy - this district is rapidly growing. Constituents are worried for their small businesses, their 401k and investments in retirement, Medicaid, and the future of their children.
We need to improve nonpartisan redistricting so we can all be confident that voters pick their representative.
