I support all three of these. The U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled (in Obergefell v. Hodges) that same sex marriage is legal and the law of the land. It’s long past time for Virginia to repeal this antiquated, discriminatory ban. As a mother of two daughters, I find it unacceptable that they have fewer rights than I did growing up. I will proudly vote to enshrine reproductive freedom in Virginia’s constitution. And finally, if an offender has served their time, they should have their full rights restored. I will vote in favor of the voting rights restoration amendment. David Owen voted against all three of these amendments, and he actively supports banning abortion and taking away women’s fundamental rights.
Virginia’s public schools are chronically underfunded. I am a product of public schools, and I raised three children who graduated from Virginia public schools, so I understand firsthand the power that good schools and good teachers have to shape students’ lives for the better. Here in HD-57, we’re fortunate to have excellent public schools in both Henrico and Goochland counties. In the General Assembly, I will work to fully fund our schools, raise teacher pay, address teacher shortages, and ensure schools have the specialists and counselors needed to support our children.
I’m committed to creating an economy where everyone can thrive by supporting good-paying jobs, raising wages, cutting red tape for small businesses, and providing tax relief for families. I will also work to lower the cost of living and make housing, healthcare, and everyday necessities more affordable.

Next, we need strong public schools so every child has the opportunity to graduate from a top notch school with modern technology and sufficient teachers and support staff.

Finally, as a mother of two daughters, I am committed to defending a woman’s right to make personal healthcare decisions, including access to abortion, contraception, and IVF. I will also ensure that healthcare providers can offer these critical services without fear.
We need more precincts in the Commonwealth so no one has to travel far to vote and reduce long lines. We should also extend weekend voting and mail voters sample ballots so they can come prepared to know what they are voting on.

I will support each of these three constitutional amendments. All Virginians deserve the right to reproductive freedom and the ability to make decisions about their own bodies, the right to marriage regardless of one's gender and sexual orientation, and, if convicted of a felony and incarcerated, that their right to vote be automatically restored once they have served their sentence.
I have learned through conversations with numerous voters who work in education that Virginia has a shortage of high quality educators. To attract more of these high quality educators, we must increase teacher pay to an average of $80,000 per year by 2030, foster an environment where those working in education can focus on educating rather than debating which books are available in the library, and providing financial support in the form of more affordable housing and affordable childcare to keep our educators in the workforce.
My top legislative priorities will be to make childcare and housing more affordable. The business model for childcare is currently broken and there is an opportunity for the government to fix it by offering to match up to 1/3 of the cost covered by an employer, including for state and local employees. The way to lower the cost of housing is to create more supply, and we can do that by streamlining building and permitting processes and creating incentives for housing development.
A long early voting period and permanent absentee voting have been great steps in the right direction for increasing access to voting. Currently there are only two weekend days for voting. Let's add more weekends, including Sundays, when people are not typically working, so that more of us have the opportunity to cast a ballot.
