The biggest challenge Mount Arlington faces is that residents don’t have enough of a voice in how decisions are made. For too long, council races have gone uncontested, and leadership has been decided without real input from the community. That lack of transparency and accountability affects everything, from how school funding is handled to the way development deals are negotiated to the everyday policies that shape our town.
Jay and I are running to change that. We believe in opening up the process by making meetings clear and accessible, sharing information before votes happen, and creating real opportunities for residents to be heard. With that foundation, we can better tackle the big issues: making sure the borough is doing everything in its power to support our schools, protecting Lake Hopatcong through regional collaboration, and ensuring borough policies reflect the needs and priorities of the people who actually live here.
At the end of the day, it’s about giving Mount Arlington a choice, a voice, and a seat at the table.
I’m not a career politician. I’m a mom, a neighbor, and a small business owner who’s been rolling up my sleeves to get things done in Mount Arlington. My background as a designer, professor, and small business owner has taught me how to manage projects, listen to people, and find creative solutions, which translate directly into council work.
On the community side, I was appointed to the Recreation Committee in 2022 and launched Mount Arlington’s NFL Flag Football League. Through school, sports, and local events, I’ve had the joy of getting to know so many neighbors and families, each with their own perspectives and stories. That connection drives me and has shown me how working together can bring real value to the community.
I’ve lived on Lake Hopatcong my whole life and I am raising my two boys on Bertrand Island. I know what it means to be invested in our schools, our lake, and our town, and I’m ready to bring that perspective, energy, and commitment to Borough Council.
A strong local economy starts with supporting the businesses we already have and making Mount Arlington a place where new businesses want to open their doors. I’d like to see us attract more businesses that fit the character of our lake community, bringing value to residents while also serving as rateables to help ease the tax burden.
At the same time, we can’t talk about our economy without talking about the lake. Lake Hopatcong is at the center of our identity and our local economy, and keeping it healthy has to be a top priority. That means focusing on lake safety, environmental sustainability, and protecting this resource for both residents and visitors. If we take care of the lake and support businesses that complement our community, we’ll create the kind of balanced, vibrant economy that makes Mount Arlington a great place to live.
One of Mount Arlington’s greatest strengths is its diversity. In my kids’ classrooms, I’ve seen firsthand how valuable it is for children to learn alongside peers from different backgrounds and cultures. They are open-minded, kind, and embrace differences in ways we as adults can learn from. That spirit of inclusion is part of what makes our community so special.
Federal immigration policy is outside the authority of local government, but on the Borough Council, I believe we can make sure Mount Arlington remains a welcoming and supportive place for every resident. That means listening to all voices, celebrating our community’s diversity, and ensuring that Borough services and communication are accessible and responsive to everyone. By fostering connection and inclusion here at home, we can strengthen our town and show that differences are something to be valued, not divided over.
For Mount Arlington, protecting the environment starts with protecting Lake Hopatcong. The lake is central to our identity and economy, and its health impacts everything from recreation to property values. I would prioritize lake safety, sustainability, and long-term water quality so future generations can enjoy it as much as we do today. That means working closely with groups like the Lake Hopatcong Commission and Foundation, and pushing for a regional committee with neighboring lake towns. By sharing resources, securing state funding opportunities, and speaking with one voice, we can better address issues like stormwater management and water quality.
When it comes to development and infrastructure, I’ll advocate for decisions that balance growth with environmental responsibility. We can welcome thoughtful development that eases the tax burden on residents without compromising the health of our lake or the character of our community. With two new projects already in the works, we must make sure any agreements put schools, residents, and the community first, not developers or outside interests.
